LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) - The Red Hot
Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis and Flea,
Christina Aguilera, Ozzy Osbourne, and Seal are among the stars set to appear at a bash for charity at the famed Hollywood Hills home of producer Rick Rubin tomorrow (August 25).
The event, to benefit the Schools On Wheels program for homeless children, is being billed as "The Last Bash" for the Laurel Canyon estate, known for its use as a studio for the Peppers' 1991 album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, as well as others by Marilyn Manson, Love & Rockets, and American Head Charge. However, a spokesperson for the party would not elaborate on the claim.
Other musicians planning on attending include Korn's Jonathan Davis and Fieldy, Marilyn Manson's Twiggy, Coolio, Sean Lennon, Bijou Phillips, and Guns N' Roses' Tommy Stinson and Brain. Actors set to make an appearance include Ben Stiller, Tori Spelling, Andy Dick, Kathy Griffin, and Shannon Elizabeth. Performances will include Shuvel, Adema, and Crazy Town turntablist DJ AM, with a surprise guest Arista Records recording artist also being touted.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers relationship with Rubin dates back several years, at least to when the band teamed up with the producer to make Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Peppers frontman Kiedis tells that its Rubin's unique perspective that makes him such a coveted studio man. "The best way to describe Rick as a producer would be if Baron Von Munchausen were to ejaculate the Red Hot Chili Peppers onto a chess board as the players of that board, Rick Rubin would be the perfect chess player. He's very intelligent, very emotionally in-tune with hardcore soulful music. He knows how to extrapolate the best and most relaxed natural performance of a band without changing them".
