Coming-Of-Age Memoir Podcast - Dear Young Rocker Releases Episode 4
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Dear Young Rocker, a first-person, coming of age story about the struggles of young adulthood and the power of music hosted by Chelsea Ursin and executive produced by Disgraceland host Jake Brennan, released the fourth episode of its debut season.
Listen to episode 4 of "Dear Young Rocker" via iHeartRadio:

"This episode serves as a miniaturized version of the theme and story arc as a whole, and is the most climatic point of the season," explains host Chelsea Ursin. "After so much struggle with social anxiety and trying to build the confidence as a musician to actually play in front of other people, young Chelsea gets the chance to connect with other kids for the first time and hopes to prove she isn't just good 'for a girl.' Anyone who's ever performed will be taken back into the simultaneous terror and excitement of being on stage for the first time."

Dear Young Rocker, which recently hit #4 on the Apple Podcasts "Arts" chart, has been immediately met with acclaim from both critics and fans, who felt an immediate connection to Chelsea's character. One listener wrote, "I feel so seen and heard. I wish I could teleport back to 2000 and give my younger self this podcast and write 'your cellulite is a punk as Johnny Ramone's weird face' on my wall."

Cosmopolitan named Dear Young Rocker one of "12 Podcasts Coming in 2020 That You Won't Be Able to Stop Bingeing" and Refinery29 named it one of "The New & Upcoming Podcasts To Look Forward To In 2020." The podcast has also received early excitement from Billboard, The Guardian, and Variety.

In this scripted, narrative podcast, listeners will both laugh and empathize as the protagonist Chelsea struggles to feel cool enough to exist. The show creates an honest dialogue around the issues of body image, gender power dynamics and mental health, and shines a spotlight on the way these issues are severely magnified during our formative years.

"I created 'Dear Young Rocker' to reconnect with the young, emotional parts of ourselves and the singularly intense feeling of falling in love with your favorite band for the first time. I think teenage feelings actually mean something, and as much as I wish I could say to the younger me, I know our present selves can learn something from the kid in us too," explains Ursin, who initially launched the show independently before teaming with Double Elvis Productions. "I want my story to help anyone who's ever struggled with self-doubt and isolation and found power, freedom and connection in music."

Dear Young Rocker is distributed through the iHeartPodcast Network and can be heard now on iHeartRadio and everywhere else podcasts are available. New episodes will air every Wednesday.

Chelsea Ursin is the creator and host of the podcast Dear Young Rocker. Season one relaunches January 15, 2020. Chelsea started the cello and bass guitar at age 12. She joined her first rock band at 15. In college she studied sound recording technology. Later she wrote a memoir titled Bass Player as the thesis for her MFA in Creative Writing at Emerson College, which became the basis for Dear Young Rocker. She lives in Boston where she regularly performs with her band Banana and volunteers as a mentor and bass teacher for the Girls Rock Camp Boston.
