Bandman has, once again, liberally applied a large dose of his evil genius to his turbocharged, high-octane compositions. He wears even more hats than usual on this recording, putting his guitar, electric bass and keyboard sequencing chops to work on all ten tracks. That's in addition to composing and arranging all original music; recording and editing the entire album; playing all the trombone parts and, of course, providing us with superhuman euphonium solos.

David is a graduate of The University of North
Texas where he played trombone in the One O'Clock Lab Band. As a euphonium player he was the winner of the first ITEC international jazz euphonium competition. Currently, he is retired after twenty-four years of active duty with The United States Air Force Band, Washington D.C.
Since retiring he has been active writing and recording music. He released his first jazz euphonium CD Can I Play Too, where he arranged the music of Herbert L. Clarke for solo euphonium and big band. Sammy Nesitco had this to say about his unique approach, "Solo work reflects musicianship by a truly great soloist!…tailored arrangements made everything "fit" perfectly and are superb… A very unique recording."
His second release,
Mendez is an entire album of original music inspired by the style and technical wizardry of Rafael Mendez. This recording won the ITEA
Roger Bobo award for recording excellence: Solo classical euphonium. From the outset, he wanted to create a recording that was a complete tour de force. This album is the perfect showcase for David's incredible musicianship and unique skill set. All of the selections are scored for a solo euphonium accompanied by a seven-piece brass ensemble with percussion. "Once again, he danced on the fine line between inspirational and demoralizing… it's that good."
