Gekesha Johnson Brings Out New Single "My Baby"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, singer, and songwriter Gekesha Johnson invites us into her world of music, art, and creativity. This music maestro in her own right was raised together with her other siblings by her single mother. Gekesha is the second of four girls and from a young age, she has always had her way when it comes to luring her elder sister into collaborating with her on various songs.

Childhood became a pedestal for her to discover and showcase her talent in music. Gekesha recalls that she would withdraw from everyone else to write songs and compose beats in her head. These moments shaped her into the fast-rising star that we see today.

At the age of eleven, an opportunity presented itself and Gekesha sang for a producer together with her elder sister and cousin. After their excellent performance, it seemed like it all ended there and her hopes for pursuing something greater with the producer were aborted.

Despite this challenge, the bold and audacious Gekesha saw more reasons to fight on and pursue her dreams.

At 13, she formed a girl group called Y & I which means Young and Innocent, and together with her elder sister and friend to her elder sister they were on a new path that seemed promising, but sadly after a while, the group was disbanded.

As she grew older she sought after more opportunities to showcase her talent and musical prowess, while some turned out as she expected, her audition for the American Idol and X-factor were some of her moments of rejections.

Gekesha has faced too many rejections that would have silenced anyone who doesn't have a strong passion and zeal for their craft. But she handles hers with unwavering courage, hard work, and commitment, confident that it's only a matter of time before her songs are receiving airplay everywhere in the world.

In 2015, Gekesha's mother passed away, at a time when her music career was really starting to be recognized and accepted. It took her a while to recover from the loss; however, when she reflected deeply on her mum's final words to her, 'Keep Going.' That was all Gekesha needed to reignite her pursuit for a far greater achievement through music.
Her New Single, 'My Baby' has a lot of depth in its lyrics and her voice is soothing and creates a synergy of something original and beautiful. Gekesha sings in such a way that relieves you of the overcrowded music industry and indeed most eyes are on her, to celebrate the rewards of her unflinching commitment to the industry, these long years.
