ONTARIO, Canada (myspace.com/quietrevolutionrecords) - Indie artist Glenn Garinther has been named the No 1 artist on Canada's top 10 singer/songwriter's on CBC Radio 3's National countdown. The song has been sitting at No 3 & 4 for the last few months and now holds the No 1 spot for the last two weeks, above artists such as Matt Mays, Feist, and Ron Sexsmith; and if Elton John thinks Ron Sexsmith is someone to check out, you'll definitely want to check out Glenn Garinther.

The interesting fact of the story is that the song sitting at No 1 is not on any of Garinther's albums, but a long lost live track. Through a chance meeting with the Be Good Tanya's in Vancouver, Garinther was invited to open for them at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre on January 10, 2003. Someone recorded the set, made a disc of it, and set Garinther up with a site at New Music Canada.com.

'Much later, I was surfing the net one night and came across the track 'One' (which was on that recording and only played that one time live ever) on the CBC countdown,' explains Garinther. 'Because I'm broke, I don't get to record a lot of the songs I write. This is one of those songs that no one would have ever heard if it weren't for those guys recording it that night. So now, after this outcome, I'm feeling both extremely lucky, but more importantly, immense gratitude to the people that helped me out.'

The CBC Radio 3's National countdown can be found at the New Music Canada website. It lists all the fresh, current, recently recorded music in Canada. They were established to support independent bands, underground DJs, and just-about-to-be-discovered artists in their own country. Glenn Garinther is one of those just-about-to-be-discovered artists, who has proved just how close to being discovered he is with his number one single.

At 35, Garinther has been writing songs for over 20 years as a form of personal journaling. His debut album Post No Bills was released in 1997 followed by Immortal in 2001 and Totem in 2005. This year he is working on his fourth release Nira.
