New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Seoul-based global pop powerhouse
NCT 127 released their new single, "Highway to Heaven," via SM Entertainment Co., Ltd. with Capitol
Music Group/ Caroline. The release follows NCT 127's recent performances on "Good Morning America," "The Late Late Show with
James Corden" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and their groundbreaking North American tour "NEO CITY : USA - The Origin", which assured music critics that the boy band has "the right stuff to become the Next Big Thing™ in the U.S. — the charisma, the power, the precision" (MTV News). Produced by Social House (Ariana Grande's "Thank U Next", "
7 Rings"), the infectious track debuted earlier today as Zane Lowe's World Record on Apple Music's Beats 1.
With "Highway to Heaven,"
NCT 127 has delivered a song that speaks to pop music fans of all ages - a classic in the making that transcends K-pop boundaries and propels the band into the mainstream. The band gave "Highway to Heaven" its live debut during its first U.S. arena tour. Rolling Stone hailed them as "a phenomenon-upon-arrival" in an opening-night review and noted, "NCT 127 were given the Beatles' welcome in New Jersey." Billboard singled out "Highway to Heaven" as "a soaring, synth-pop ballad…a groovy, sleek tune."
NCT 127's massive appeal has taken them into the upper reaches of Billboard's Artist 100 chart, where they claimed the No. 6 spot. Across all of their songs, the band has racked up more than 265 million U.S. streams combined, including upwards of 11 million streams for the EP NCT #127 WE ARE SUPERHUMAN, which was released in May. The EP was a smash, charting at No. 1 on the Top Albums chart and entering the Billboard 200 at No. 11. It found the band delving into bold, new sounds and genres while still staying true to the style that has established them as one of the most prominent K-pop groups in contemporary music.
NCT 127 has received a 2019 Teen Choice Award nomination in the International Artist category. Their previous single, "Superhuman," was featured throughout MLB Network programming in early June, with
NCT 127 named Featured Artist of the Week.
NCT 127 is the acronym for "Neo Culture Technology" and the number 127, which represents the longitudinal coordinate of Seoul, Korea, the home of K-pop. The band made its debut in July 2016 with the mega-hit "Fire Truck" and have since found great success with massive singles "
Cherry Bomb" and "Simon Says." Regular-Irregular, NCT 127's full-length debut, claimed the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Album charts in over 22 regions around the world.
