New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Grammy Award winning Toronto based-producer collective and prolific alt-pop duo, Locals Only Sound shared "Watch Yourself (Canada Version)" featuring Lavi$h and Just John via Universal Music. The Canada version is the latest in the duo's global series for their single "Watch Yourself."
Written and produced by Gray Hawken and Curtis Smith, the creative forces behind Locals Only Sound, the single and its worldwide versions highlight the duo's rare ability to transcend borders and bring a fresh perspective to sound anywhere around the world. The series now includes Watch Yourself (Canada Version)" featuring Just John and Lavi$h, "Watch Yourself (South East Asia Version)" featuring Fariz Jabba, King Promdi, Max Duan, Daboyway, Rayi Putra, Yung Raja and "Watch Yourself (Jamaica Version)" featuring Kemist, Nyanda, Esco. Additional versions are expected to drop in the coming weeks.
The concept of having global versions for "Watch Yourself" came organically to the duo who are constantly creating and collaborating with artists of all varieties.
Calling upon their friends and tapping into their network Hawken and Smith were able to bring together an international collective of artists to produce unique versions of the single. Working with Just John and Lavi$h for the duo's Canada version came together seamlessly with the group already being familiar with one and other and having mutual connections.
The "Watch Yourself" global series comes hot off the heels of Locals Only Sound's hit single "Move With Me" which continues to make waves over a year after its release. The undeniably catchy track became a breakout hit, gaining over 5.5 million streams worldwide and climbing the Canadian Top 40 airplay charts. The duo have amassed over 9.5 million streams globally.
Locals Only Sound are not only developing talent and bringing new perspectives along with unique sounds to established artists but also creating and sharing their fresh take through their own music. With a focus on their appreciation for alt-electronic music and combining it with their abiding passion for R&B vocals paired with modern beats, Gray Hawken and Curtis Smith write, produce and record all their own music that has listeners hooked on the first beat. Their debut EP titled, OPUS 1 tape, which the pair describe as a mixtape - is the first instalment of Locals Only Sound's partnership. They have gone on to release their hit single "Move With Me" along with a handful of remix projects. "Watch Yourself" is their first piece of original music in 2021.
