New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Groove U-the new, revolutionary music industry career college-will host two launch events in July to introduce its state-of-the-art, 30,000 sq ft facility in Columbus, Ohio, opening for enrollment this fall. On July 24, staff will lead a VIP tour of the school for press and music industry professionals, highlighting its world-class performance, recording, and production suites for both audio and video, along with its internet broadcast studio and small business development center. On July 28, they'll invite the public in for the first time with "Amps & Albums," an all-day festival featuring a gear and record swap, live music, dozens of vendors, and remarks from the staff and advisory board, which includes Jerry DePizzo of O.A.R along with some of the most accomplished engineers, producers, managers, and entertainment attorneys in the Midwest. For more information on the events and fall enrollment, visit: https://www.grooveu.net

Headed by music industry veteran Dwight Heckelman, Groove U focuses on a career-centered approach to learning developed by active industry professionals, with a core curriculum of live music, production, business, video, and multimedia. Guided by the principles that the music industry is creatively engaged, apprenticeship-based, and relationship-driven, the two-year school offers small, personalized classes that provide both a broad, solid foundation and specialized areas of study. With a 4:1 lab:class ratio, the emphasis is on hands-on learning. Professional development and small business entrepreneurship courses along with unparalleled career resources prepare students to make professional connections and plug into both the local and global music communities through trips to music industry conferences like SXSW, on-campus guest speakers, and two internships — all included in tuition. In addition, tuition also includes weekly private instrument lessons every term, along with a laptop and recording/production hardware & software.

Groove U, which is located at the cross-section of Columbus' vibrant Short North arts district and Ohio State's South Campus Gateway, boasts an accomplished staff with a variety of backgrounds, including Heckelman—who founded Hocking College's music program before joining the staff at the Berklee College of Music as a career specialist— Erin Moore—Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Columbus Music Co-op—and Neal Schmitt—founder of Workbook Studios and Coordinating Instructor in the Music Program at Hocking College.

Stay tuned for more details on this month's launch events and fall enrollment at Groove U.
