Head Fake & Dub Fu Masters - Head Fake Vs. Dub Fu Masters
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Head Fake & Dub Fu Masters goes for a wild, party attitude on the dance rebellion of "Head Fake vs. Dub Fu Masters". Everything here possesses a physical presence to it. The layered approach works wonders for they have a heady experience. Beats go for a bouncy nimbleness, for the way that they cascade adds to the exuberance of the collection. All of it has a club experience to it for they make sure the collection has a sense of togetherness to it. Production polished to perfection, the way that it glimmers feels so soothing.

With this group they go for a new school approach to dub. Less of King Tubby variety, they instead infuse their dub with the techno leaning of the Basic Channel label along with some Rhythm & Sound haze thrown in for good measure. Physical to its core they make sure that the sound gets elaborated upon in a fantastic, truly free way. Additionally, some of the dubstep efforts of James Blake also dart across the soundscape.

Pure power pours out of the fantastic opener "One Step" with its tech house roots worn solidly on its sleeve. A dignified dance track, the four to the floor cadence has a compelling quality about it, one where many layers filter into the fray adding to the intense, clear-eyed focus of the piece. By far the highlight of the collection emerges on neon-hued bliss of "Trump Funk". Color has a grandeur to it for there is a high energy that enters into the sound itself. Melody perfectly merges with the groove for all of it adds to the density of the swirl. Drenched in sunlight, the "Overjoyed" finale has a tenderness to it, as there is a celebratory aspect to much of it. Growing and expanding, the work constantly shifts perspective for there is a kindness to it all, one that embraces a good energy to it.

On the joyous experience of "Head Fake vs. Dub Fu Masters" Head Fake & Dub Fu Masters play with listener expectations for there is a wall of sound approach to it.
