Iglesias Jr, tops Harrison's hit

NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - Enrique Iglesias, son of Spanish singer Julio, has knocked George Harrison's My Sweet Lord off the top of the UK singles chart after just one week.
Iglesias's ballad Hero has become the heartthrob's first UK number one, and he is already a huge star in the rest of the world.

My Sweet Lord slipped to number four after being released as a charity tribute to the former Beatle following his death in November.
Boy band A1 had a new entry at number two, with United States singer P!nk at three.

Iglesias, 26, named best Latin artist at the recent American Music Awards, also scored the highest new entry on the album chart. Escape, his fifth album and his second sung in English, went in at number 21.
He had his first United States number one with his first English-language single, Bailamos, in 1999.
Bailamos was a number four hit in the UK, while a duet with Whitney Houston, Could I Have This Kiss Forever, hit number seven the following year.

His father is the biggest-selling Spanish singer of all time and scored his only UK number one single in 1981 with Begin in the Beguine.

Britney Spears's latest single, Overprotected, only reached number five despite a high-profile visit to the UK to make appearances on TV shows.

Posthumous hit

Other new entries in the top ten came from Ja Rule, Flip and Fill and Afroman, whose previous release, Because I Got High, was a number one last October.
Stereophonics held onto the top of the albums chart, with Robbie Williams still in second place.
Aaliyah's self-titled album jumped 17 places to number five after her posthumous single More Than A Woman reached number one two weeks ago.
