LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Sticky Toffee PR) Ben Bailey is a songwriter and producer from South London. Despite working with numerous artists over the years, he has yet to release a solo record, but that is about to change with the upcoming release of his debut album.
With a nod to iconic British songwriters of the past like The Kinks or
Squeeze right up to modern day acts like The Streets, Bailey talks about the trivialities of life over music that blends genres from urban to ambient through indie.
His sound is unique, creating atmospheric musical textures using orchestral parts, samples, synths and live instrumentation. Vocally, he switches between spoken word and melody, making use of narrative to detail his humdrum life in a way that is funny, sometimes shocking but never dull.
Bailey was first noticed as a songwriter and performer, bothering the chart with his own tunes and collaborations with bands like
Babyshambles and The Cribs. As well as studio work Ben has played Glastonbury and toured as far away as Japan and the US.
Bored of the guitar, Bailey went on to teach himself piano and production, building a home studio to immerse himself in music and to create a sound he could call his own.
The first cut to come from his album is
George Best, the story of a hungover man piecing together the night before and lamenting the mistakes made in his life. It is bittersweet, paranoid and achingly honest.
