New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Today, indie-pop four-piece PREP release "Carrie," from their upcoming debut, self-titled album (out October 30th via Bright Antenna Records). The single is a swinging composition filled with bright, care-free melodies that cement PREP as the "purveyors of funky, synth-laden, perfect-for-summer (and anytime) tunes" (Brightest Young Things).

The visual features a protagonist exploring endless versions of the same neon-hued room in pursuit of their partner. It's a choreographed dance between two people that illustrates the push and pull of modern love and heartbreak.
"This was one of the last bits of recording we did for the album - the lockdown strings from North Macedonia," PREP's Tom Havelock says. "We were video linked up to the conductor, looking from behind his visor out over this enormous, beautiful 1970s radio studio with 16 string players spread over the area of a football field. The song is pretending to be a lot happier than it is. It makes me think of someone sitting down a bit drunk at a pub piano, trying to turn all the shit they're going through into a hazy singalong."

PREP is pop music that feels tip-of-the-tongue familiar even though you've never heard it before. Drawing from contemporary influences such as Cory Wong of Vulfpeck, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Thundercat, Tyler the Creator, and Mac DeMarco, PREP is ready to share their funktronic, synthetic and explosive sound in the form of a full length LP.

Previously released singles from the upcoming debut album include "On and On" ("hypnotic" - Uproxx) and "Pictures of You" ("a groove-laden, synth-pop stunner with an '80s edge" - Indie Shuffle).

Earlier released tracks of 2020 "Love Breaks Down" and "Over" featuring Norwegian electro-pop singer songwriter Anna of the North aren't included on PREP's debut album, but still justify head bops.

In 2015 the four members of PREP came together to cut deep grooves that mine contemporary R&B and electronica while hearkening back to the soft, sheer sound of the late '70s and early '80s-what some listeners have retroactively dubbed yacht rock. The love for that style united vocalist-lyricist Tom Havelock, keyboardist Llywelyn Ap Myrddin, drummer Guillaume Jambel, and producer Dan Radclyffe.

The freshness of fusing well-worn genre tunes with modern sounds is a product of the distinct backgrounds that make up the group. Llywelyn has a classical music education in composition and piano; Guillaume moonlights as a house producer and DJ; Dan produces hip-hop, and Tom works as a pen-for-hire songwriter in the pop music world. With widespread critical support and radio love from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, KCRW, and Beats1, the band is turning heads and bringing listeners to "a much-needed funk-fueled trip to a sun-filled beach," according to The Line of Best Fit.
