New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Daniel Steinbock was born and raised on the California coast north of the Golden Gate, the only child of a sailor and a librarian. A singer-songwriter in the sublime lyrical tradition of Sam Beam (Iron & Wine) and Neil Young, pre-apocalyptic love songs and spare folk poems fill his songbook with a rare spiritual nakedness. He conjures plights and ecstasies of soul and body that might have come from the pen of Walt Whitman, had Whitman left New York and wandered the American landscape through tent revival spirituals and Delta freedom songs, growing quiet and haikuist at the feet of giant California Redwoods.
Steinbock has self-released two EPs, Sea Inside and The Blade. His debut studio album, Out of Blue, recorded primarily in the Pacific Northwest, presents the songwriter's craft in full spectrum, painting with colors of rock n' roll, jazz, gospel-soul, country, and blues, with features by fellow troubadours John Craigie and Ayla Nereo. Out of Blue releases February 2019.
