Italian Teens Il Volo Release Debut Album In The United States On Geffen Records April 12th
Santa Monica, CA (Top40 Charts/ Geffen Records) IL VOLO, three teenage tenors from Italy, are about to take the U.S. by storm with the release of their self-titled debut on Geffen Records April 12th (available digitally April 11th). Already platinum in their native Italy, IL VOLO showcases the astonishing vocal talent of Piero Barone (17 years old), Ignazio Boschetto (16 years old), and Gianluca Ginoble (16 years old) as they perform both new and traditional classically influenced pop songs. Prepare to be blown away by the undeniable vocal talent from these Italian teen idols! You have to see to believe. Click HERE for IL VOLO's "O Sole Mio" video.

Produced by the legendary Humberto Gatica (Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli) and the world renowned Italian singer/producer Tony Renis, IL VOLO was recorded in Los Angeles and Rome, as well as at London's famous Abbey Road Studios. Geffen Records Chairman Ron Fair executive produced the album.

IL VOLO's 12 tracks include both classic and new compositions: their version of "O Sole Mio," "Il Mondo," "E Piu Ti Penso" (a medley of Ennio Morricone songs from the soundtracks to Once Upon a Time in America and Malena), "El Reloj" (a brand-new song sung in Spanish), "Smile" (written by Charlie Chaplin for his film Modern Times and later popularized by Nat King Cole), "Notte Stellata/The Swan" (from the well-known musical theme composed by French composer Camille Saint-Saens), "La Luna Hizo Esto" and "Painfully Beautiful" (both written specially for IL VOLO by multi-platinum songwriter Diane Warren), "Per Te" (written by multiple Grammy Award-winning songwriter/producer Walter Afanasieff), "This Time" (a new song written by Michelle Lewis) and "Un Amore Cosi Grande" (a classic from the late '70s Italian music tradition).

IL VOLO first came to America this past February during awards season where they performed at many exclusive events including a showcase at Geffen Chairman Ron Fair's home, a private pre-grammy dinner at the home of Chairman/CEO of Interscope Geffen A&M Jimmy Iovine and at Miramax Films head Harvey Weinstein's pre-Oscar party. They capped off their U.S. promo run with a performance on CBS' The Talk, making their national television debut.

In May 2009, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca appeared on the popular Italian talent show "Ti Lascio Una Canzone" and dazzled television viewers with their flawless rendition of the Neapolitan standard "O Sole Mio." The boys decided their group needed a name. "Il Volo," meaning "flight," was chosen to signify the feeling that these three young tenors were about to spread their wings and fly. It wasn't long before IL VOLO's managers - Michele Torpedine (who has looked after the careers of Andrea Bocelli and Italian rock star Zucchero) landed a worldwide recording contract for the trio with Universal Music Group which released IL VOLO's self-titled debut album in Italy November 2010, where in less than three months, with no radio or video airplay, no single sales and only a few television performances, it was certified platinum. IL VOLO became the first Italian artists to sign with Geffen Records in the United States.
