J Balvin shares a new video for "Gris" from his critically-acclaimed fourth album 'Colores.' The surreal visual finds
J Balvin slowly spiraling from heartache. Soon enough, his negative thoughts begin to permeate the real world in the form of scorpion infestations, floods, and more, until an earthquake is what seemingly tears his world apart. The video is the fifth Colin Tilley-directed visual from the album following videos for "Rojo," "Morado," his #1 hit single "
Blanco" and "Amarillo."
The video for "Gris" also arrives ahead of J Balvin's appearance on Global Citizen and the World Health Organization's global televised and streamed special, One World: Together at Home, in celebration and support of healthcare workers around the world. Taking place on Saturday April 18th and hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert, the special was curated in collaboration with
Lady Gaga and will benefit local and regional charities that provide food, shelter and healthcare to those that need help most. The special will begin at 5:00 PM PDT/8:00 PM EDT/12:00 AM GMT and air on ABC, NBC, ViacomCBS Networks, iHeart Media and Bell Media networks and platforms.
The follow-up to J Balvin's 2018 full-length 'Vibras,' 'Colores' finds the Reggaeton powerhouse going back to his roots, opting for only two features (Mr. Eazi and frequent producer Sky Rompiendo) to showcase the infectious sounds and flows that have made him a household name. The album arrived just days after
J Balvin made history becoming the Latin Urban artist with the most #1 singles on the Latin airplay charts after "
Blanco" took the top spot last month. This title, along with Colores, not only cements his status as a leader of Reggaeton but as a torchbearer of the new state of Urbano, Balvin continually expanding the limits of the genre and paving the way for "la nueva escuela."
'Colores' was creative-directed by Takashi Murakami who created ten brand new flower characters one for each song and color on the album. While he has been long heralded as a commercial force, the album underscores the ways in which Balvin is permeating all facets of culture -- from music to art and style -- without compromising his unique identity.
