The infectious, pop-rock-inflected track playfully explores a sense of disconnection. "
For Real" was inspired by The Truman Show -- Jacob's favorite film -- in which Jim Carrey's character discovers his whole life is a simulated reality show. Sartorius says it's "about my growing up for five years in the internet spotlight. It addresses my experience living in LA and how personal interactions can come off as disingenuous." Conceptualized and co-produced by Sartorius himself, the color-saturated video further showcases this unreality on "The Sartorius Show".
