New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Jagwar Ma have shared "OB1," the first new track from their forthcoming album 'Every Now & Then,' out later this fall via Mom & Pop. The accompanying video was cut together by the band's own Jono Ma and filmed on three continents including footage from their recent European arena tour with Tame Impala. The follow up to their acclaimed 2013 debut 'Howlin' - named NME's Album of the Year and hailed stateside by Pitchfork, Vice and others - 'Every Now & Then' signals a period of exploration and expansion for the Australian duo of singer/guitarist Gabriel Winterfield, multi-instrumentalist/producer Jono Ma, who will be joined on tour by their longtime friend, bassist Jack Freeman.
Written and recorded between the scenic beach community of Crescent Head in Australia, and the derelict sunflower farm in the French countryside where they recorded 'Howlin,' the new songs embrace a range of influences from funk, dub, and techno, to krautrock, garage rock and psychedelia - sometimes in the course of one track.
"OB1" was produced by the band, mixed by long-term studio collaborators DJ Ewan Pearson, and features
Stella Mozgawa on drum duties. Completing the team was production wizard
James Ford who lent his ears and ideas to the tracks compelling drums.
Jagwar Ma will preview songs from 'Every Now & Then' with a brief run of US dates starting next month, including slots at FYF and Bumbershoot and supporting Grimes. Additional headlining US dates are confirmed for
September and November.
In addition to supporting
Tame Impala earlier this year, Jagwar Ma have also toured recently with The xx and Foals, and were festival favorites at Glastonbury last month.
