St. Augustine, FL (Top40 Charts/ Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions) The word Bodhi itself is a Sanskrit term meaning "superior knowledge or enlightenment". For the significantly large and ever increasing national and worldwide fan base of Miami, Florida based jam band Bodhi, undoubtedly one of the fastest rising bands of their genre in the biz; let the zen begin, with the widely anticipated release of Bodhi's smoking hot, self titled new CD. For enthusiasts of great jam everywhere that have not yet discovered Bodhi, your moment of enlightenment too has come; and we at Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions consider it a privilege to be turning you on to this red hot band that is rising fast, and their outstanding new self titled CD.
Because Bodhi's musical capabilities are as broad ranging and diverse as the many musical influences that makes up the genre of jam itself, which may make describing the band's 'signature sound' a bit of a challenge, it definitely keeps things interesting and exciting for Bodhi's many fans; as one never knows what's coming next from this great band. The rich amount of versatility this band possesses and embraces can be heard in a surprising contrast of musical styles performed from one track to another in every song of their new independently produced CD. Also given the high quality of the musicianship and songwriting prowess of their originals are all performed with notably masterful and 'tight' performances by all members of the band, makes Bodhi's new CD one definite 'must have' new CDs of the genre, while making the band Bodhi also a definite 'must catch' when it comes to their dynamic live performances. From a true music connoisseur and/or consumer perspective, this is all great stuff. ...From a music industry and/or marketing perspective, the amount of versatility Bodhi exhibits both live and in the studio is nothing short of 'marketing brilliance', and 'music industry gold' because of the amount of 'broad audience and marketing appeal' this band exhibits within their musical product.
To spite the fact that this great band's music is so versatile in style, Bodhi still manages to have their own signature sound. Though understandably, this sounds like a bit of a contradiction, and though it is definitely a rare quality to possess both a very distinct signature sound and be highly diversified musically as a band, it has and can be done. Another notable band that possesses the same qualities of heavy duty diversification yet with a very signature and distinct sound for example, would be the legendary band, Little Feat. Not too many other bands in music history have done so to the same degree that Little Feat has can easily come to mind. It is because of those qualities, Little Feat has remained extremely successful for a number of decades; and following that same recipe for music industry success, Bodhi has all the potential needed to do exactly the same. Numerous fans of both of these great bands will attest and agree that it is because of 'the element of surprise' created by both of these band's ability to crossover into such a vast spectrum of musical styles while doing so with an element of seriously smooth finesse and with very high quality of musicianship, all while maintaining the band's signature and trademark sound is what not only what initially appeals to fans of an equally broad spectrum of musical styles, but 'hooks' them as well. Bodhi's music is indeed highly addictive.
To further enlighten you and/or to perhaps even give fair warning to which tracks on Bodhi's new CD are especially the most addictive, definitely take heed to tracks entitled, "Minor Inconvenience", (which is to be considered the 'hard stuff', highly potent, and besides being highly addictive, is known to cause compulsive head bobbing and convulsive like body movements and hip gyrations); "Memphis", (also powerfully potent, causing all the above mentioned effects), "Normal Funk", (which is deceptively NOT your 'normal everyday funk', and is in fact, exceedingly funk ladened, causing excessive body movements and head bobbing as well as the added effect of serious bootie swaying). The same can be said for the track titled "Funky Town". The higher the volume level in which these tracks are played, the more increased these effects become, noting a euphoric effect on the listener and adding that there is an extreme risk of the neurological effect of these songs sticking in one's head for indefinite periods of time, even after only one consumer use.
Yet again, perhaps this too may sound a bit contradictory... Though however 'signature' and creatively original Bodhi's sound truly is, trace elements of some of the band's many musical influences can still be detected within their music and on the band's hot new CD. Bodhi's influences, (which are as diverse as their music is), range from such outstanding acts as: The Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Grateful Dead, Phish, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Cream, Janis Joplin, Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews Band, Ozomatli, Blues Traveler, Robin Trower, Jeff Beck, Steve Vai, Joe Bonamassa, Rose Hill Drive, AC/DC, Herbie Hancock, Black Sabbath, Curtis Mayfield, Eric Johnson, Mike Stern, Michael Jackson, Pearl Jam, Queen, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Who, Pat Travers, Santana, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, OAR and Rodrigo y Gaberilla, just to name a notable few of their many. For fellow fans of any and/or all of these renowned influential artists as well as of the band Bodhi, this, (incidentally though unintentionally I'm sure), creates a much appreciated added 'zen experience' for the listener; as well as proves as a stellar example of 'the impact and fruition' of the influences the above legendary artists have contributed to the music world. (For which, those influences can be quite proud, I'm sure.)
Examples of those influences, (in my opinion anyway), can be heard in the songs, "Fridge", in which the outstanding guitar work by Bodhi guitarist Guillermo Gonzalez, is notably rather Allman Brother-esque. (Which certainly is no easy feat.) Other examples of 'trace elements' of Bodhi's musical influences within their music can be detected within the songs, "Minor Inconvenience", which has a well performed and somewhat 'Gov't Mule vibe'. The song "Memphis", in all probability, will have a 'widespread appeal' to fans of Widespread Panic. Upon listening to the tracks "Funkytown" and "NYC" left me fondly reminiscent of Frank Zappa's musical influence. And no doubt, (though not mentioned above on Bodhi's list of musical influences), some outstanding and very 'Steely Dan worthy' sax performances can be heard all throughout the CD, which were performed by Bodhi's own Ross Goldman. And though, as devoted Bodhi fans everywhere will attest and agree that the band Bodhi does indeed possess their own distinct and unforgettable sound, the fact that those 'trace elements' of their influences, (which undoubtedly are amongst the esteemed masters of the music industry's most successful, not to mention elite in musicianship), can be detected within Bodhi's music, also speaks volumes about Bodhi's capabilities as pro performers.
...Coincidentally, pulling out all the stops for fans in the making of Bodhi new self titled CD, the CD was recorded at the famed Vanquish Studios in Ft. Lauderdale, which is owned by Joey Salamida, and was mastered by the multi-Grammy Award winning Mastering Engineer Guru, Micheal Fuller of Fuller Sound; who has worked with such (Bodhi) influences and (other) legends as The Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, America, Bobby Caldwell, The Eagles, Firefall, George Clinton, Julio Iglesias, Kenny Loggins, Eddie Money, KC & The Sunshine Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, Pure Prairie League, Rossington Collins Band, Henry Paul Band, Pat Travers, Stephen Stills, 2 Live Crew, Judas Priest, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mountain, James Brown, The Bellamy Brothers, Dixie Dreggs, Steve Morse Band, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Celia Cruz, just to name a few of his vast credits.

As to the extent of how quickly Bodhi as a band is rising, it is with an impressive and profound quickness, for an independently produced CD by rising artists not (yet) signed to a major record label, that multiple tracks off of Bodhi's self titled CD is gaining a significant amount of radio airplay on mainstream, college, and internet radio stations both nationally and worldwide. Bodhi has also gained an impressive amount of media and press attention over the last year, being featured on such television programming as a guest appearance on NBC's South Florida Today Show, airing in the Greater Miami Metropolitan Area, just to name one. Without a doubt, the band Bodhi is swiftly gaining an impressive amount of ground towards ultimate music industry success, with CD sales briskly reflecting, and an ever increasing national and worldwide fan base; especially for a band operating independently.
