With a deep love for helping others, Jef Joslin has always aimed his artistic career with a humanitarian angle. Co-founding the charity organization, LoveTrade, formed to aid the less fortunate, Joslin is a sincerely altruistic artist. His latest single, "Do What You Wanna Do" is an inspiring follow-up to his last single, "Come Out West." In this new track, he shifts gears from his beachy acoustic sound to a soulful pop vibe with Motown influences. The result is a captivating jam with the addictive hook, "whatever you're dreaming, you can do what you wanna do." Throughout the song, Joslin lists and describes different careers and pursuits, offering words of encouragement to each. While he labored for days over other songs, he wrote this one quickly after a burst of inspiration. "I wrote the song back in college after a conversation with my roommate, a drummer, in which I said, "if you wanna be a drummer, then just be the best drummer you can be." I ran upstairs almost immediately and wrote the song in 15 minutes. Fastest song I've ever written," Joslin commented. "Do What You Wanna Do" was written, produced and mixed by Joslin and mastered by Rob Beaton.
Born to a family of entertainers and performers, Joslin has been singing his entire life. He started playing piano at age four and adding guitar at age ten. In addition, the multi-instrumentalist also plays bass and drums. Since studying audio engineering and music production at Middle Tennessee
State University, Joslin has been pursuing his musical endeavors, including running his own independent label IAMWe Records and co-founding the charity organization, LoveTrade. He has toured nationally, showcased at SXSW, as well as landing opening spots for
Janelle Monae and Wiz Kalifa. Since moving to Los Angeles, Joslin has continued to build his loyal following through performing at venues such as the Viper Room, The Roxy, Hotel Café, and WitZend.
