LOS ANGELES (www.epidemicrecords.com) - A few years ago, Annie Lennox sang the smash hit single "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves." Jennifer Emery can share the same sentiment as the California-based singer-songwriter readies the release of her upcoming self-titled CD.

Set for release early next year, the new album was produced by Jim McGorman (Michelle Branch, New Radicals) and features several top session musicians backing Jennifer. But that's about all the help she needed on this project. The ever-resourceful Emery is the ultimate DIY artist, having written and recorded the album on her own, then pressing and distributing the CD through her own start-up label, Epidemic Records. She even made sure she got top photographer Albert Sanchez to shoot her album cover, and Stephanie Wolf, whose clients include Christina Aguilera, Reba McEntire, Britney Spears and Avril Lavingne, to serve as her stylist.
"I just like being in the driver's seat," says the singer. "Because I have a vision of how I want my music to sound, how I want the CD to look and how I want it to be distributed, I thought, 'Why not do it myself?'"

Upon completing the recording, Jennifer took the initiative to pursue independent PR and radio promotion. Today she distributes the CD on her own website www.epidemicrecords.com and the early buzz has been so strong, other emerging artists have approached her to sign with Epidemic.

Jennifer's 2002 premiere album Truth Can Kill contained the single "Stay," which perched on FMBQ Top 20 for several weeks.
With the release of that album, the Orange County, CA native then embarked on a string of regional concerts, including opening for the 80s band Berlin. Her success is all the more amazing because Jennifer simultaneously runs a mortgage banking company and is the mother of two children.
