Jerry Bouthier - Voyage Sauvage Vol. 2
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Eclectic by nature, iconoclastic by design, electronic German label Emerald & Doreen unveils second volume of its Voyage Sauvage compilation series, the best of its recent releases mixed by French dj/producer/sound-designer Jerry Bouthier.

A passionate London-based DJ often joining the dots between music and fashion, long-running stalwart of hot Franco-Japanese brand Kitsun, ex-music director at Vivienne Westwood, resident dj at BoomBox the east London club night which brought back mad, creative fun on the dancefloor, Jerry Bouthier spins sophisticated party music of the electronic, open-minded kind from Paris toTokyo, Moscow to Shanghai, South Africa and beyond. But thats not all, a medium we were telepathically speaking to recently informed us Jerry has a haunting past - something the Frenchman himself did not realise until he read these lines. Indeed, in one of his former lives, he was an extraterrestrial engineer working with teams shaping biological entities for planets and their biospheres in our solar system. His colleagues loved his creativity; his specialty wascreating the sounds animals and higher evolved beings would use to communicate, all the way up the evolution ladder to fou rth density beings, including humanoids like us. It was back then, thousands of years ago, that his passion for wonderful sounds came about.

A lot of Jerry Bouthiers former self shines through on this second Voyage Sauvage excursion. Indeed once again the reliable Frenchman has expertly cooked the cream of the crop recently released on Emerald & Doreen in one captivating, mind-expanding mix thats not short of elegance despite combining a hodgepodge of styles and moods, some of which not even (just yet) defined by a specific tag or description.

From shoegazzin house to electronica, lyrical synth pop to nostalgic italo-disco, esoteric ambient, melodic prog-techno, dreamy indie, girly reggae and everything else in between, Voyage Sauvage 2' breaks ground without leaving out the essential: solid tunes you wanna listen to again and again.

With such a gargantuan output - E&D drops a digital EP or an album most weeks - a regular summary is more than an option, its essential. As such 'Voyage Sauvage 2' is a lot more than the sum of its ingredients, because meticulous and perfectionist to the core Bouthier has sculpted and polished an evocative mix, slicing off sections here, skimming a little fat there in order to deliver a seamless mix focussing on character and emotion, fine-tuning expertly thecreations of twenty four talented new artists from more than fifteen countries into a truly special mix that highlights the importance of Emerald & Doreen's freestyle, no dogma stance.

Jerry completes:
What I love most about Emerald & Doreen is that its artists arent too sure what box they should be put in. On the same EP you might get this, and this and that, always a mix of styles, which I find truly refreshing at a time when so much music is confined to rules and categories.
This label is about spirit and what matters most: being independent, D.I.Y. and trans-genre rather than sticking to a particular sound and tired formulas. Theres real honesty there, you can tell all the artists featured are more interested in doing it their way than actually making money from it, an crucial factor when it seems that today all people in music are chasing dollars.

Emerald & Doreens output is frantic to say the least, so it makes sense to stop every so often, pull all the best tracks into one continuous mix and say here's the stuff you can't do without, check it out! Cos it's a label really worth paying attention to.'
