LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ John Tesh Official Website) - As many NBA fans know, composer, radio show host and former "Entertainment Tonight" anchor John Tesh wrote the original "NBA on NBC" theme song, titled "Roundball Rock," which was used from 1991-2002. In honor of the 2008 NBA finals, Tesh has decided to offer the fan favorite, "Roundball Rock," as a free download this month on Tesh.com (https://teshmedia.com/NBA/NBA.html)

NBC played the "Roundball Rock" 12,000 times during their run (about 20 times per game) but, when ABC took over broadcasting rights for the NBA, they chose to compose their own theme music instead.

The popularity of the theme song is still evident today by basketball fans. The song was even sampled by Grammy winner Nelly, for his song "Heart of a Champion" from his album, Sweatsuit.

Tesh, a six-time Emmy winner, multiple Grammy nominee, NY Times Best-Selling author and one of the most successful syndicated radio show hosts (of The John Tesh Radio Show) still plays the song at his sold-out concerts, but admits most people are surprised to hear the song.

"Ninety-nine percent of the crowd doesn't know I wrote this theme," says Tesh. "NBC had never given me a single credit on the air. I'm sure it was just an oversight that's typical for musicians."

Tesh is currently celebrating five years of his hit syndicated radio show, and the success of his newest CD / DVD and TV special, ALIVE: music&dance. In addition, his latest book, "Intelligence for Your Life: Powerful Lessons for Personal Growth" has enjoyed success this year by spending time on the New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Amazon.com and Publisher's Weekly "best-seller" lists.
