New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Karyshma have shared an enthralling new short film "Nadi," capturing a story of love, longing, and loss. The song "Nadi" is an interpretation of a classic Indian folk song tradition called Thumri dating back over 600 years. As a quartet of Indian-born musicians who each immigrated to the United States, Karyshma's fresh take on "Nadi" includes the use of American country guitar riffs, melding band members' Texas upbringings with the song's roots in North India.

"Nadi" was shot in India, produced and envisioned by Karyshma, and directed by Kartik Dengle. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/FXAQhH5CAqk

The song "Nadi" appears on the band's new album Someday, a collection of South Asian folk, classical, and Sufi songs chosen specifically for our current moment and centering on themes of oneness and our shared universal experience. Such traditional music and wisdom served as deep sources of inspiration for Mahatma Gandhi during India's Independence Movement, and for America's own Civil Rights leaders as they embraced Gandhi's teachings of nonviolent change. To reimagine these age-old songs, Karyshma harnessed instruments and sounds from all corners of India, blending them with American layers and a feel drawn from across continents, to underline the unifying power of people's music.

Karyshma members have performed for the Obamas at the White House, at the TIME 100 Gala and at India's official Independence Day celebrations. Last year, one of the band's vocalists Falu became the first woman singer-songwriter from India to be nominated for a GRAMMY. The New York Times has praised the band's sound as bridging "East and West, ancient and modern."
