Kate Brown Releases Cinematic Single "6 Shots"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Folk, singer/songwriter, Kate Brown, released her latest single, 6 Shots, a powerhouse folk-rock anthem that reveals the raw passion of an infuriating love. Full of fierce vocals, piercing lyricism, and serrated instrumentation, this musical exhibition of rage is truly invigorating. 6 Shots is now available for download on iTunes.

As a modern take on traditional storytelling through folk music, 6 Shots conveys the tale of a couple stuck in a caustic kind of love while simultaneously contemplating the representation of violence in the media. Browns powerful alto vocals and cinematic lyricism, accompanied by an endearing acoustic energy, drive the steamy storyline forward. The first words of the song illustrate the pair clearing a room full of people so they can scream fighting words at one another. I love you, but Im sick of this, I dont want to live my life in chains. I love you, but Im scared to death. I dont want to change you babe, but I want you to change. A lively fiddle and fiery acoustic guitar work surge in pace, creating a daunting and impatient tension. This progression deliberately mirrors Browns frustration of the glorification of violence. "6 Shots is a really interesting song for me because its meaning changes and grows the longer I play it, Brown comments. I wrote it at a time when I was really struggling with our society of sensationalism, one that both condemns and glorifies violence. At its heart, it's really about seeing the whole of a person and trying to understand their dark parts as part of a whole, not just condemning them for a singular action." This vibrant blend of sharp lyrics and inventive acoustic flare is a true cinematic masterpiece.

Born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Kate Brown was raised in a musical family that fostered and encouraged her creativity. With an incredible drive and passion to pursue music, Brown dropped out of college and began traveling around the country peddling homemade CDs and playing her music in coffeehouses. She ended up in Chicago, where she enrolled in an intensive course at the School at Steppenwolf. There, she connected with fellow actor and musician, Tony Sancho, who shared her love of music and the arts. Together, they formed the Kate Brown Band and created a magnetic chemistry driven by passion that can be seen in their powerful onstage presence. Kate Brown has played impressive venues like Hotel Caf, Room 5, and Silverlake Lounge.

Displaying the intense and emotional kind of Americana that Brown is known for producing, 6 Shots liberates the truth behind an impassioned, detrimental love. This enlivening piece of filmic artistry is only heightening excitement for Browns upcoming EP release.
