Towey's fun, catchy lyrics are often inspired by her three kids, now 17, 15 and 11 years old. Music can create bonding time for parents and children, helping families capture memories. "Think of how everyone reacts to music. It can change your day," she says, as she prepares to sing a favorite called "Chester the Dog". "It's in us, it's in our souls."

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Local Connecticut mom and kindie rocker Dre Towey released a new family-friendly album that focuses on smart food choices for kids. Towey is a Connecticut native and attended New Canaan High School. She began her music career as a writer and illustrator in 1998. After fine-tuning her monkey noises, she recorded her first solo album in 2003. Four CDs and two holiday singles later, Towey received three Parents' Choice Awards, was chosen as a finalist by The John Lennon Songwriting Awards and more recently selected as an IMA Nominee.

A mother of three, Towey has been recognized as a "Mom of Reinvention" and safely adopted and raised several fish, three-and-a-half cats and a dog. A colorful stop-motion/clamation video was created for her song "You Are What You Eat." Towey has a series of Connecticut concerts coming up in the weeks/months ahead, including Rowayton Library, Waveny Castle and more. Here is her lyric video for the track "Turkey Bop."

An added boost came with a request to write a song about Pickles by a pickle maker, Nick Horman of Horman's Pickles, resulting in an album "In a Pickle". Dre confesses "I love pickles and I could eat them all day long." Her thoughts about turkeys, which she captures in the catchy and bouncy tune "Turkey Bop," are a little more complicated. While Thanksgiving conjures up memories of holidays and family on Cape Cod, it also brings about negative thoughts of gluttony and the fate of the poor bird.

Bonnie Goldberg's interview also appeared via the Connecticut Critics Circle, as Feature of the Month: https://www.ctcritics.org

California-based music writer Michael Doherty shared Dre Towey's "delightfully silly" music video for 'You Are What You Eat':

Once a picky eater, Kindie Rocker Dre Towey chooses food as a means of expression on her witty new album 'In A Pickle'. Featured track "You Are What You Eat" is a playful interpretation of how we, as consumers, approach food. In jest, the song/video is meant to educate families on what we eat. The song is one of 15 tracks, intended to provide food for thought and to stimulate discussion and digestion. The CD itself is an eclectic mix of traditional and original songs featuring Dre's vocals and guitar (think Brandi Carlile meets Shel Silverstein) backed by the stellar musicality of Grammy-winning Dean Jones and The Fleas (Dog On Fleas). As always, Towey's children are at the heart of her music, the tracks 'Jellyface' and 'Criss Cross Applesauce' will resonate with any parent. No bones about it, 'In a Pickle' should bring a giggle to your gaggle this holiday season and beyond. A claymation video for Towey's track 'You Are What You Eat' debuted via Huffington Post. Bon Appetit!
