BERLIN, Germany (kompakt-net.de) - DUMB-UNIT rings in 2006 with a melancholic monster. " RAREFIED ATMOPHERE " is the brainchild of GIORGIO GIGLI, another key member of the expanding Roman techno empire. Giorgio first came to light with his sensational Chiki
Disco EP (produced alongside Donato Dozzy), a track which caused a healthy stir in the electronic music community worldwide. Part of the Rome-based minimal house label Electronica Romana, Giorgio demonstrates that there is a new sound emerging from deep within the heart of Italy. There is a feeling of early Plus 8 but with a dedicated commitment to remain firmly in the future. On the flipside, NUM and Cadenza front man LEE VAN DOWSKI provides a remix that is almost brutal in it´s coldness it quickly warms up layer by layer to become a muted calculation at euphoria. A perfect fit for all the seething and restless club monsters lurking in the winter corners. Take heed...
Grime was yesterday, GRINE is the latest shit! K2´s latest signing is another young frenchman who at first showed his talent with a rather banging tune called " SHOOTING STARS " on SCANDIUM That was a long time ago. Nowadays, his sound is much leaner and mature. With a good measure of mid-90s minimal influences thrown in " WHERE R U? " is the perfect style for KOMPAKT´s fresh offshoot. ( K2 07 )
GLIMPSE is the latest discovery on the british minimal scene. The supersharp sound design and ubercool, top modern grooves of " 40% BLACK " will certainly appeal to your advanced ears and feet alike. Very sexy and totally upfront... ( GLIMPSE 002 )

As if the music alone wouldn´t be good enough... (SHITKATAPULT 068)
The Berlin-Manchester based CITY CENTRE OFFICES label is a more than reliable source of fine electronic music. If you like your music warm and cosy MIWON´s " PALE GLITTER " album will conquer your headphones by storm. The subtle blend of tender beats, creamy melodies and pop elements easily replaces your radiator for a while. ( CITY CENTRE OFFICES 029 )
One of Cologne´s most productive artists is back on TREIBSTOFF with another corker. " ANANDA´S BASSMASCHINCHEN " is a suitable follow up to the massive " SUESSHOLZ " from 2004. In case you ever heard GABRIEL ANANDA playing live you know what to expect here. Top energetic techno entertainment with a broad smile and a winking eye. ( TREIBSTOFF 59 )
After a Finnish artist from Portugal, KICKBOXER welcome a Greek from England and strictly speaking, from London. Kostas Tassopoulos aka EKKOHAUS is a colleague of ARGY (Pokerflat, Raum Musik), who, of course, is also Greek. So far so good. As far as the music is concerned, this EP offers a vast, universal spectrum: from the rocking " Down with the Boys " to the 303 Acid rush of the title track " DENZ MUSIK ", over the solid techno stomper " Killer Bees " to the chill-out track " Liebe ". This does not only sound really varied, but it definitely is. By the way, this is another exclusive pre-release. It won´t be officially released until early february... ( KICKBOXER 05 )
After three singles on KOMPAKT and a slew of releases on his own label ECHOCORD, Copenhagen based Mikkel Meldgaard aka MIKKEL METAL presents his first full length of new material. Mikkel has always refused to force himself on the listener, rather acting as a commentator on what can occur from a higher state of conscience, without provoking any sort of superiority complex. Arrogance is not his thing. After all, this humble graduate of philosophy has recently turning thirty and entering fatherhood, a constant observer of his surroundings and himself.
VICTIMIZER inspires from the fringes of dub, indie-rock, vocoder-pop and of course minimal techno, this album isn´t so simple to pigeonhole in your encyclopedia of genres. Genuinely, MIKKEL METAL has delivered dynamic, universal music that once again showcases the progressive growth and depth in KOMPAKT´s blossoming family. ( KOMPAKT CD 48 )
