Leah Nobel Creates Art In Her 'Mother Tongue' On New Album, Out Now
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Singer-songwriter Leah Nobel has played a number of roles. She has been the alt-pop spitfire Hael, whose songs have been heard on Netflix, Maserati and Motarola Razr ads and more. She has written brat-rap under her "Lil' Cheesecake" alter-ego, and she has written a concept record inspired by real stories from others. Now, she's re-discovering her own voice and her own stories. 'Mother Tongue,' out today, is a folk pop-tinged album filled with relatable feelings of insecurity and gratitude, moments of jealousy and reflection, and more.

"I love the creative diversity of my career, but I craved to get back to songwriting as myself," explains Nobel. "Especially as I was wading through reality post 'To All The Boys.' This is why I named the record 'Mother Tongue.' I saw it as a representation of my original creative language. When I began writing songs at 18, I wrote them freely, with no agenda other than to make art that felt true. I also wrote them alone, which changed for 'Mother Tongue,' as I did collaborate with a few different producers."

The album's "Salt And Vinegar" shares the all-too-real frustrations of a struggling musician trying to make it in an industry that values internet views over talent. Listen here: youtu.be/tws8rK9FDRQ

"Crying in the Hardware Store" captures the moments of vulnerability that can sneak up on us at the most unexpected times, while "Art Collector" looks to capture every moment of life and store it like a keepsake. "Love Coinciding" wonders at how the stars line up in love, while "The Villain" reflects on how we as humans don't always realize how we hurt each other. "Late Bloomer" resonates with anyone who feels behind in life, while "Time Is Playing Tricks On Me" begs time to slow down.

Nobel's 'Mother Tongue' is her most personal album to date and follows her success from writing the feature track for Netflix' 'To All The Boys I've Loved Before: Always And Forever,' which saw her rise to the top of Shazam's US Top 200 chart and Global Top 200 chart and earn a nomination for Best Musical Moment at MTV's Movie & TV Awards.
