New York, NY (Top40 Charts) This week marks the first anniversary of Lewis Capaldi's debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, serving as the perfect opportunity to look back at what has been a quite extraordinary year that has seen Lewis go from breaking act, to international superstar, headlining arenas and festival stages around the world.

With the album having now spent ten weeks in total at number 1, as it comes full circle and lands there once again this week, it became the biggest selling album of last year, certifying platinum in just ten weeks and is currently the biggest selling album of this year also, and has now certified triple platinum, with sales fast approaching a million copies. Since its release a year ago, it's never left the top 10 since - a spectacular feat.

Last week also saw the release of his live EP To Tell The Truth I Can't Believe We Got This Far - a glorious package of carefully selected stunning live performances of tracks taken from the album.

Becoming the biggest streamed week 1 debut of all time, the album spawned five UK Top 10 singles in "Hold Me While You Wait" (Platinum), "Bruises" (3X Platinum) & "Grace" (Gold), the recently crowned chart topper "Before You Go" (2X Platinum) and number 1 smash hit single of 2019 "Someone You Loved" (8X Platinum) which spent seven weeks at the summit of the Official Singles Chart and had spent more weeks in the Official Singles Chart Top 10 than any other song EVER by a British act. It also became Lewis' first ever US number 1, as well as bagging him his first Grammy nomination for 'Song Of The Year'.

The awards don't stop there, as this year's BRITs saw Lewis lead the way with four nominations and come away as joint highest winner of the night, bagging 'Best New Artist' and 'Song Of The Year'. He also won 'Best Track' at the Q Awards in October last year.

After a year of sold out headline shows which saw him play to hundreds of thousands of fans across the globe, March 2020 saw him step up to headline arena shows for the first time which sold-out before album release, making him one of the first artists to ever achieve such a feat. The tour included two stellar nights at London's SSE Arena Wembley, and Lewis has now proved he can step up yet again, when he takes on two sold out shows at London's O2 Arena later this year on October 2nd & 4th.

The last year has been nothing short of astounding for the young Scot, and today marks a poignant moment as the album lands in at Number 1 yet again. Lewis shows no signs of slowing down and continues to break records and sell out whatever he puts his name to. A true Scottish superstar.
