Long Island, NY (Long Island Music Hall of Fame) - The Long Island Music Hall of Fame has announced that it will present a Long Island Sound Award to DJ legend Denis McNamara in recognition for his outstanding contribution to Long Island's musical heritage. He will receive this award during the Party Out of Bounds: Malibu Sue's Radio Reunion, at Posh Nightclub in the Garden City Hotel, on Friday, May 12th, 2006 Denis McNamara is unanimously credited with almost single-handedly creating the New Wave and alternative radio formats that defined a generation and swept the nation. Denis was also known for his now famous concert series and his support of local bands. When most rock stations drifted to the more commercial AOR format, Denis bucked this trend by seeking new and innovated music. As punk and New Wave started to become popular at the end of the 1970's most rock stations ignored these genres but Denis once again bucked the trend by playing artists that were breaking new ground.

McNamara's LI Sound Award presentation will be one of the many highlights of Party Out of Bounds: Malibu Sue's Radio Reunion, at Posh Nightclub in the Garden City Hotel, on Friday, May 12th, 2006 - doors open to the public at 9PM. The evening will be hosted by Malibu Sue, who has been heard on Long Island radio since 1983. The evening will be co-hosted by Denis McNamara and Larry the Duck. DJ Maxx, currently a renowned music video programmer, will be spinning all your favorite tunes! This evening will be a reunion of Long Island radio DJ's whose voices and personas helped create an indelible music era. This is a one time gathering of many of the key people who created and defined the new wave / alternative / modern rock scene.

In addition to the guest air personalities, Fred Schneider of The B- 52's will be a featured DJ and host, spinning the music that defined a generation. The B-52's are best known for such hits as "Love Shack" and "Rock Lobster," and other great party songs that were both first heard on New York radio. Some of the other confirmed reunion DJ's include: Bob Waugh, Jeff Beck, Barry Ravioli, Steve Jones, Nancy Abramson, Carol Silva, Maria Chambers, Jodi Vale, Alex Anthony, Rob Rush, Jon Daniels, and Joey O'Brien...with more DJ's and special guests to be announced!
