New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Los Angeles-based indie pop outfit NoVanGogh has shared their new single 'Weight of the World', a timely offering given the current state of affairs in society. The song's foundation, reminiscent of The Police's signature semi-reggae-pop fusion, is wonderfully enhanced by a charming, seemingly spontaneous electric violin that takes the music to another dimension as it progresses.
With a flowing formula that involves a revolving door of gifted musicians from the LA music scene, NoVanGogh was conceived by songwriter-producers Douglas Sparks and Christopher Hastings as a way to release pop-infused music that straddles diverse styles of music.
Creators of sublime pop, NoVanGogh's sound is highlighted by a continuous morphing of styles and genres producing sounds worthy of your attention. Their artistry shines through in a tapestry of genres, making for a listening experience that rewards your attention.
Produced, recorded and mixed in L.A. by Douglas Sparks and Christopher Hastings, this single involves Neara Russell on vocals, Abby Shelton on electric violin and Christopher Hastings on guitar and drums.
"I wanted to write a song about a universal truth that most people could identify with. And I wanted to do it a way that wasn't preachy. I feel like we succeeded and created a song that can inspire anyone who hears it," says Douglas Sparks, who pens both the music and lyrics for NoVanGogh.
"The style of the track is a Police inspired semi-reggae approach. We added an improvised electric violin part which elevates the track to whole new level. 'Weight of the World' has a very unique sound and a message that will stick with anyone who hears it."
Earlier this year, NoVanGogh released their heartfelt and hopeful pop anthem 'You're Right There', along with its Van Gogh-inspired video and most recent single 'As Long as You're Here', featuring Ginny Luke (vocals), Mike Arrom (keyboard), ElizaJames (violin), Abby Shelton (violin), Leland Skylar (bass) and Christopher Hastings (guitar, drums).
'Weight of the World' is available everywhere digitally, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where NoVanGogh's other releases can also be found.
