Maren Morris Wins 2012 Artist On The Verge
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Maren Morris Official Website) Maren Morris takes home the Grand Prize as the New Music Seminar's "Artist On the Verge 2012" Winner. Maren was chosen as one of the Top 3 Finalists and was invited to perform in New York City for the top industry experts and tastemakers at New Music Seminar's (NMS) first ever NMS New York Music Festival that took place in 17 venues throughout New York City and Brooklyn from June 17-20. NMS, along with their Partners- BMI, eMusic, Filter Magazine, Folk Alliance, OurStage, ReverbNation and SESAC brought together the best and brightest artists of the next generation for four nights of performances in venues ranging from Irving Plaza to clubs located throughout the Lower East Side and Williamsburg. Maren took the top prize and was awarded with more than $163,000 in marketing, promotion, music equipment and consultations from some of the top industry leaders in their respective fields. Congratulations Maren!

Maren Morris is a 22-year-old singer, songwriter, producer and musician, who is a 12-year veteran of the music scene. Morris' songwriting and music reflect her influences including Country, Folk, Indie and Pop flavors. With three albums under her belt including "All That It Takes", which spawned three Texas Music Chart radio hits, including the title track that went all the way to number one. Morris' third album, "Live Wire", showcases her maturity as a storyteller, while her soulful vocals draw the listener in to experience her diverse musical background, while she never abandons her rootsy core. Maren's music has garnered international attention leading to tours in England, France and much of the US. She has appeared with such artists as Pat Green, Gary Allan, Marty Stuart, Radney Foster, Bob Schneider, Monte Montgomery, and Eli Young.

Maren relates to folk musicians/singer-songwriters like Patty Griffin, but it doesn't stop there. Maren's country roots and indie spirit have forged a unique alchemy of sound beyond the confines of preset genre molds. No wonder Fort Worth Weekly, who called Maren a "tiny Texas hurricane of blue-eyed soul," awarded the diminutive songstress "Best Female Vocalist" 6 years in a row and for 2012 the Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards nominated her for "Best Album" for Live Wire and "Best Song" for "Best Of Me."
