Moonalice Shares New Version Of Asleep At The Wheel's "Am I High?" Featuring Ray Benson
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Known for delivering a unique brand of psychedelic soul and rock-tinged Americana, Bay Area collective Moonalice ushers in the 4/20 holiday with a smokin' version of "Am I High?," the cult stoner singalong anthem from 10x-Grammy-winning Asleep at the Wheel. Asleep at the Wheel's founder and vocalist Ray Benson joins Moonalice on their new version, singing the song's bridge and harmonizing in unison with the T Sisters. Accompanying the single release is a smoke-filled music video starring the famed Grateful Dead roadie Big Steve Parish. "Am I High?" is timed with Moonalice's annual hometown 4/20 celebration, Moonalice's Gathering of the Tribe, happening tonight at San Francisco's The Chapel. Moonalice will livestream the 4/20 show for free on Thursday at 7pm PT / 10pm ET on www.moonalice.com.

"From its very first show in 2007, at a concert in support of medical usage, Moonalice has promoted the end of criminalization of cannabis and the civil rights abuses that stemmed from it," said Moonalice band leader, Roger McNamee. "Our annual Gathering of the Tribe on April 20 combines music, liquid lights, and poster art in celebration of a plant that brings joy and relief to millions."

Speaking on the new version of "Am I High?" Ray Benson shares, "I met a few of the Moonalice folks backstage at Hardly Strictly in San Francisco and they told me about recording it and the concept. I lit a joint and said sure I'd love to sing on it!"

Conceived in a cloud of smoke, Moonalice played their first concert at a medical marijuana benefit in 2007 and has campaigned for the legalization of cannabis ever since. Their annual 4/20 celebration has become one of the Bay Area's premier outtings for over a decade now. Following a three-year hiatus, the Gathering of the Tribe returns this year in partnership with Humboldt Family Farms, who are committed to capturing and preserving the roots of the Emerald Triangle Cannabis culture in the same way that Moonalice is committed to embodying the spirit of the 1960s and 1970s counterculture that inspires their music. Hippie icon Wavy Gravy returns to emcee this year's festivities. Legendary farmer Nik Erikson of Full Moon Farms along with Founder of Humboldt Family Farms, Scott Vasterling, will be on-site to discuss Cannabis culture, history, and their sun-grown Cannabis offerings as well as giving away gift bags to all ticket holders throughout the event. Additionally, 25 posters by 23 artists were created to commemorate this show. Each attendee will receive a special set of posters.

"Am I High?" is the group's first release since Light Side of the Moonalice - An Acoustic Adventure. Recorded in August 2022 with 4x-Grammy Award-winning engineer Dave Way (Fiona Apple, Pink, Norah Jones), the acoustic project saw Moonalice rework staples from their Full Moonalice Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 EPs, including "Time Has Come Today" and "Love Peace & Happiness."

Following the 4/20 festivities, Moonalice returns to Skull & Roses Festival in Ventura, CA, and Napa Valley's BottleRock Festival. Moonalice recently partnered with One Tree Planted, a nonprofit organization focused on global reforestation. Since 2014, the organization has planted over 40 million trees in more than 47 countries across the globe. For every fan that follows Moonalice on Spotify, One Tree Planted will plant one tree.
