Director for Australia's premier multi-award winning contemporary blues and roots music festival Bluesfest, Singapore's very own Raw Earth scores significant national pride as the only Asia-represent band to join the international line-up of music acts. Slated to perform at the 27th annual Byron Bay Bluesfest 2016 on 26 and 27 March 2016, Raw Earth's appearance is made possible with the support from the
National Arts Council's Market and Audience Development Grant. Bluesfest is one of Australia's most definitive music festival. It arguably presents the biggest names in music and attracts one of the largest festival audience turnouts annually in Australia.
Prominently known as one of the few blues and roots rock band in Singapore. Raw Earth is influenced by the likes of blues greats BB King, Albert Collins,
Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, soul and funk legends
James Brown,
Marvin Gaye and blues/roots rock Cream,
Jimi Hendrix among others. No stranger to playing at large-scale events, the band has amassed experience from performing on the same stages as music legends Robert Plant, Bob Dylan,
Paul Simon and
Bonnie Raitt just to name a few. This upcoming gig at Bluesfest however, marks the band's international festival debut and they will share the stage with recent Grammy winners Kendrick Lamar, D'Angelo and music legends Tom Jones, The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, Brian Wilson, Don McLean,
Jackson Browne and
Tedeschi Trucks Band and more.
The five-piece band is formed by some of Singapore's most seasoned musicians - namely,
Danny Loong (Ublues), Francis Chan (Ublues), Victor Chen, S
