London, UK. (Top40 Charts/ A&G Records) - It's all coming your way with 'Ribbed
Music for the Numb Generation,' the sparkling debut from London's Sohodolls. Produced by Robert Harder (Whitey, Polar Bear, Babyshambles, The
Sunshine Underground) and Steve Lyon (Depeche Mode, The Cure), 'Ribbed Music' has already won praise from esteemed international press including:
Utterly magnificent slab of haughty electro-sleaze which makes Peaches sound as predatory and erotically charged as KT Tunstall. - NME
Pull down all your fences and your highest of high heels, spread yourself out, lube yourself up and prepare for some pure (and proper) pop lust. Organ Art
The music is brilliant. Upbeat, disco-tinged without being cheesy, taking all the best parts from glam and adding them to a Gothy, new century cabaret chic that no doubt translates brilliantly into live performance. - Musicomh.com
Post-feminism sex rock 'n roll and it's downright tasty let's do the nasty on the dancefloor - The Fly
KROQ radio is Los Angeles already has 'Ribbed Music' on rotation. The album, released Sept. 3rd, is available to US audiences via www.amazon.com and iTunes.
You'll want to listen because the members of Sohodolls are:
CHART TOPPERS: The first two singles caused enough of a stir to reach No 7 and No '12 in the UK indie charts. These were followed by last year's classic 'Stripper,' which won acclaim everywhere from The Fly to Clash and NME.
TOUR VETERANS: The band performed at Hugh Heffner's Playboy party in Moscow, The Big Issue's 15th anniversary concert and alongside The Horrors at NME's 'Rock 'n Roll Riot Tour'. Sohodolls has played headline shows in Moscow, LA, Istanbul, Rome, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Vienna, Brussels, Milan, Turin, Hamburg, Madrid, Piza, Keln, Oslo, Munich - as well as every town and city in the UK. The band has also toured with or supported Ladytron, Vive La Fete, She Wants Revenge, Magic Numbers, Soulwax and The Charlatans.
THE LIFE OF THE PARTY: Vocalist Maya Von Dolls recalls her most memorable gig- 'The Water Rats, where I stage-dived. Toni climbed on the monitor but ended up on the floor with half a broken pint glass stuck in his back. We hadn't realized and by the end of the gig we were both covered in blood until our manager sent us back stage for first aid. Then there's King Tut's, where Maya tells The band before us got booed off stage, and the whole crowd was shouting 'Sohodolls! Sohodolls!' We got five encores."
