NASHVILLE, TN. (Postscript Records) - Postscript Records announces the release of a project long awaited from one of
Music City's most talented and sought-after songwriters and musicians, Spady Brannan. Brannan will release a collection of harmonious masterpieces thirty years in the making. A musical storybook of his personal journey to arrive where he is today as an artist, SPADY-THE LONG WAY AROUND AND OTHER SHORT STORIES will be introduced under the Postscript imprint in October.
Over the past three decades, Spady Brannan established himself as one of the pre-eminent songwriters, musicians and producers in Nashville. Since 1965, Spady Brannan has been on the road, on the tour bus, on the stage and in the studio. Brannan has played behind some of the biggest names in the music business on some of the world's largest stages. In addition to The Curtis Brothers, with whom he launched his music career at age 16, Spady has toured with Crystal Gayle, Buffy Saint-Marie and Reba McEntire. Known as the "music man," Spady is an official member of Who's Who on the Nashville studio musician "A-list." He's recorded with country music icons and legends [including Tammy Wynette, Sammie Smith, Waylon Jennings, Jack Clement, Eddie Rabbit, Crystal Gayle, Reba and Kenny Rogers] and some of country music's newcomers who are making their way to mark the trail for a new generation of country music [including Andy Griggs, Phil Vassar, Bekka Bramlett, Mindy McCready, Ricochet and more].
A songwriter with No. 1 records to his credit, Spady has penned hits for Roy Orbison, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Trisha Yearwood, Agnetha Faltskog (formerly of ABBA), Don Williams, Englebert Humperdinck and Highway 101 to name just a mere handful. In 1985, he was recognized with an ASCAP No. 1 Country Records Award for his craftsmanship of "Real Love" (co-written with David Malloy and recorded by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton), and again the following year with the same award recognition for "Think About Love" (a co-write with Tom Campbell recorded by Dolly Parton) in 1986. He had a No. 1 European hit with "Once Burned Twice Shy" recorded by Agnetha Faltskog on her solo recording project WRAP YOUR ARMS AROUND ME.
The oldest rookie to make his debut as a new recording artist, Spady Brannan wrote or co-wrote the eleven songs on his self-titled album. A melting pot of all musical influences, Spady Brannan's music is a fusion of genres with a soulful deep groove and sensitive romantic lyric. SPADY features special guest appearances by Bekka Bramlet, Lee Roy Parnell and Crystal Taliefero (Billy Joel).
Those who listen will detect the soul of Motown, R&B rhythm, a blues mood, a hint of old-time rock n' roll and the honest lyrics of a well-written country song. The CD is a book of short stories in Spady's life at the "time." A personal diary of feelings (good and bad), SPADY is a "hopeless romantic"-a book on love and life, and what happens to love when life just happens. Spady sums up the inspiration and idea behind the most personal musical memoirs, "I was moved to take the leap and make my own record after a deeply personal relationship came to an end which made me realize...some of the most memorable chapters in love, life, relationships and music come from taking the long way around."
