New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Tash Ceasar is a young writer of what she describes as 'grungy folk music'. From South East London, of a carribean background, she has already released an album 'The 13th' ( working with Half Decent and Lee Christian ).
Tash is influenced by Reggae, Gospel, RnB and rock and also performs in The Giving Style. She considers herself "a practising musician firstly, and is still practising on being simply human". She believes: "music should be many shapes, not to be looked at but to be experienced".
Here is a young artist speaking for her generation, and using all the tools she can - making music in her garden shed, which she lovingly names "the Afrotreehouse". Tash creates music in the best tradition that deservedly should spread from Tash's secluded place of inspiration to the rest of the world!
This single "HUMAN" is reminiscent of artistes such as Anna Calvi and
Laura Mvula in its subject matter. The song is powerful in its stance as "an outsider seeing/wanting someone else's life…emoting the awkwardness of our basic understanding of how to interact as human beings".
Since 2016 Tash has played many London venues including The Good Ship, the Amersham Arms and, the
George Tavern. She has even travelled to France, playing in Avignon and Paris, plus Manchester and, naturally, Scotland as well. Expect Tash to bring her modern lo-fi soul in to your living room via one of her ongoing live-casts.
Tash were discovered by hip label Quickfix, whom quickly signed her and set a date for release of this newest composition.
She says: "being part of a singles-club is quite retro, like the original indie vibe of the label folding sleeves on the kitchen table and writing a note to each singles club member".
Ms Ceasar has also attracted the attention of various music reviewers who It seems, like you and me, may have fallen for her chic urban lo fi charms.
Oh, and Tash plays the bass guitar as her go-to instrument.
