New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Cornerstone) Quintessential California band The Mowgli's have announced the completion of their debut album, WAITING FOR THE DAWN, set for release June 18th on Photo Finish/Island Records. Two nights later on June 20th, The Mowgli's make their second appearance on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. They can also be seen performing on Conan on May 23rd. WAITING FOR THE DAWN was produced by longtime Mowgli's collaborator Christian James-Hand, who also co-produced tracks with Sam Hollander (Gym Class Heroes, Neon Trees), Captain Cuts (Grouplove, Out of Sight), and Jens Koerkemeier.
Since the release of their debut 5-song EP Love's Not Dead in late 2012, The Mowgli's have been working non-stop in support of "San Francisco," the opening track of the EP. The Mowgli's made their debut on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in November 2012. They appeared on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! on February 21st, part of a marathon schedule that put them onstage at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon on February 20th and Slim's in San Francisco (also) on February 21st. The Mowgli's also appeared as the house band on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live! throughout SXSW.
The Mowgli's are into a busy spring and summer schedule of major festival dates across the U.S. which has already taken in Edgefest in Dallas and Revelry in Madison, WI. A dozen more fesitval dates include Bonnaroo (June 13th), Summerfest (June 29th), Lollapalooza (August 4th), and Bumbershoot (September 1st). These will be combined with headlining dates through May, June and July with American Authors and Hunter Hunted. Tour dates have also been set for October with Walk The Moon.
The Mowgli's comprise five childhood friends from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, augmented by 3 mid-western transplants:Michael Vincze (guitar, vocals), David Appelbaum (keys), Spencer Trent (percussion), Josh Hogan (guitar, vocals), Andy Warren (drums),Katie Jayne Earl (vocals), Colin Dieden (guitar, vocals), and Matt Di Panni (bass). Part '60s Laurel Canyon, part '70s Venice Beach, and part '10s Silverlake, the band and their harmonies are held together by a message of universal love, peace and the belief that the highest form of consciousness is achieved by togetherness and unity. Inspired by the grind of Los Angeles, the magnetism of San Francisco, and the serenity of the Big Sur Coast, the songs of The Mowgli's can be described as a joyous revival of rock and roll, a twisting indie-folk dance and a heartfelt protest ballad. They have been known to slide from indie pop to country and a host of genres in between, evoking modern artists such as Fun., Grouplove, and Edward Sharpe And the Magnetic Zeros, while their roots are firmly planted in the music of Neil Young, the Byrds, the Beach Boys, and Fleetwood Mac.
