The Original Wailers, London Souls, And Blackalicious Hit Brooklyn Bowl This August
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Brooklyn Bowl - called "New York City's mecca of bowling, food, and entertainment" by the New York Observer - will host The Original Wailers, The London Souls, Blackalicious, and a special night celebrating and paying tribute to the original queen of pop - the 12th Annual Madonnathon - as part of their August line up.

The Original Wailers - Wed, August 5
Carrying the torch passed on by Bob Marley himself, original guitarist Al Anderson has united with a group of handpicked musicians to honor the history and integrity of Bob's music with The Original Wailers. Al Anderson (guitar) first joined Bob Marley & The Wailers in 1973, going on to play with Bob until his untimely death in 1981. Al was an integral part of the Bob Marley & The Wailers sound, forever imprinting his guitar solos and production skills on the catalog that has sold more than 75 million records and touched so many around the world. The band will bring their iconic island sound to Brooklyn Bowl on August 5th (shows:8:00pm, admission: $15).

The Brooklyn Invasion Featuring The London Souls - Fri - Sat, August 8
In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles historic 1965 concert at Shea Stadium, New York City duo the London Souls will take the stage at Brooklyn Bowl to perform some Beatles classics, as well as songs off of their latest album, 'Here Come The Girls.' The album distills singer/guitarist Tash Neal and drummer Chris St. Hilaire's road-tested raucousness into a life-affirming set of psychedelia-kissed rock and roll. The duo, who have been described by the Wall Street Journal as a "groove-driven hybrid of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Sly & The Family Stone and the raw, early Led Zeppelin" will bring their fresh, vivacious spirit to Brooklyn Bowl (show: 8:00pm, admission: $15).

The Midnight Ramble Band - Tue, August 11
The Midnight Ramble house concerts grew out of Levon Helm's vision for live music in his home-studio and had so much momentum that his spirit carries on in his absence - generating smiles, but also reminding everyone that there will never again be a man or musician like Levon Helm. The tradition that Helm began has now been passed on to his daughter Amy, who leads The Midnight Ramble events - carrying on the tradition of welcoming special guests on stage and filling the room with "a vigor and fire that penetrate every corner of the room - along with every head and every heart" (American Songwriter). Amy, who just released her first-ever solo LP 'Didn't It Rain' on eOne Music, will be joined on stage at Brooklyn Bowl by an impressive line up of guest artists, including Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams, Brian Mitchell, Jim Weider, and more (show: 8:00pm, admission: $20).

Galactic - Wed-Sat, August 12-15
It's been more than 20 years since Ben Ellman, Robert Mercurio, Stanton Moore, Jeff Raines and Rich Vogel began exploring music together as the funk and jazz band Galactic. Since then, the seminal New Orleans band has consistently pushed artistic boundaries on the road and in the studio, approaching their music with open ears and drawing inspiration from the streets of their home city. The band will hit the stage at Brooklyn Bowl for four consecutive nights, bringing with them the energy of a New Orleans carnival for a night of color and dance (shows: 8:00pm, admission: $20).

Col. Bruce Hampton and The Aquarium Rescue Unit - Sun, August 16
Referred to in a recent Relix feature as "The Jamband Velvet Underground," the influential jam trailblazers Col. Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit will return to rattle the landscape this summer with a series of live performances - including one at Brooklyn Bowl on August 16th. The band, which played a seminal role in fostering the improvisational music community, originally parted ways in 1993. Periodic Aquarium Rescue Unit reunions, both with and without Hampton, have taken place over the past two decades, but this summer run represents the band's first sustained run of dates since 2007. The set will feature a mix of new and old material and be recorded for a possible live album release (show: 8:30pm, admission: $15)

Blackalicious + Kool Keith - Thu, August 20
On their new album, 'Imani, Vol. 1,' California-bred duo Blackalicious live up to their hard-won reputation as one of hip-hop's most progressive, forward-thinking creative forces. Acclaimed for the sublime combination of MC Gift of Gab's verbal dexterity and lyrical eloquence, and producer Chief Xcel's bracing beats and distinctive soundscapes, Blackalicious has earned widespread respect, both inside and outside of the hip-hop community, for the wildly inventive, personally charged innovations of its first three albums, 1999′s 'Nia,' 2002′s 'Blazing Arrow' and 2005′s 'The Craft.' The duo will take to the stage alongside Bronx-based Ultramagnetic MCs, "Kool" Keith Thornton. A one-time psychiatric patient at Bellevue, Keith's lyrics explore deep metaphors and veiled criticisms for those who "water down the sound that comes from the ghtetto." Together, the two acts will make for a live show that combines fierce turntable work, free-flowing rhymes, and hard hitting beats (show: 8:30pm, admission: $17-20).

Dick Dale - Fri, August 21
Dick Dale wasn't nicknamed "King of the Surf Guitar" for nothing: he pretty much invented the style single-handedly and remained the fieriest, most technically gifted musician the genre ever produced. Dale's pioneering use of Middle Eastern and Eastern European melodies was among the first in any genre of American popular music. The breakneck speed of his single-note staccato picking technique was unrivaled until it entered the repertoires of artists like Eddie Van Halen and the young Jimi Hendrix. Working closely with the Fender company, Dale continually pushed the limits of electric amplification technology, helping to develop new equipment that was capable of producing the thick, clearly defined tones at unheard of volumes. This "father of heavy metal" will bring his unmatched showmanship to the stage for a night of guitar-driven surf rock (show: 8:00pm, admission: $25).

The 12th Annual Madonnathon - Sat, August 22
In honor of Madonna's birthday, Madonnathon is an annual celebration and dance party that features live performances by some of NYC's most talented musicians and tribute artists. This year's show, which will be hosted by Cathy Cervenka and friends, features an all-star cast of musicians, including a special appearance by renowned Madonna tribute artist Chris America. Audience members are encouraged to wear their best Madonna-inspired looks for a chance to sing onstage with the band and win prizes (show:8:00pm, admission: $15).

Orgone - Tue, August 25
For over a decade, Orgone has been steaming up nightclubs and drenching the largest music festivals in the country in sweat. Serving a cold-blooded repertoire of deep soul, rare funk, and afro-disco with a raw rock star edge, Orgone's "terrifically unfussy, grizzled R&B" (eMusic) is sure to get you to the dance floor. The eight-piece band known for their work with artists like Alicia Keys, Cee Lo Green, Al Green, and Gil Scott-Heron will take to the stage at Brooklyn Bowl to perform their warm, dirty homegrown recordings that have earned them the title of "one of the heaviest acts we've heard in years" (Dusty Groove America) (show: 8:00pm, admission: $12).
