The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band Shares New Track "It Is Or It Ain't"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band have shared a new song, "It Is Or It Ain't" from their upcoming album Poor Until Payday. The track is currently streaming on American Songwriter. With a nod to the group's affinity for classic blues records and vintage aesthetics, Rev. Peyton remarks that "I wanted this one to feel like a dance song from the Chess Records era." Poor Until Payday will be released on October 5th, via the band's own Family Owned Records label through Nashville indie Thirty Tigers. The group recently released a video for the album's title track, which Guitar World notes, "features 300 volunteers, two closed roads in two different towns, one 1962 tow truck, one 1970 Cadillac Deville and a lot of fantastic slide playing." The colorful street scene that the Rev commands in the video encapsulates the riotous energy that he and his Big Damn Band have been bringing to the stage for years. The Band also recently released the singles "Dirty Swerve," which premiered on Relix and "You Can't Steal My Shine" with Popmatters, who notes that "the full breadth of Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band can be felt here, oozing with full-bodied rock authenticity from start to finish."

The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band are the world's greatest practitioners of classic country-blues, featuring the foremost finger-picking steel guitar player in the Rev, and the sensational rhythm and vocal accompaniment of Washboard Breezy, Rev's wife of 15 years, who has played by his side since the band's inception and is known for setting her washboard on fire, Jimi Hendrix-style, as part of the group's dynamic live performances.

A devotee of what he calls "front porch blues" since he was 12 years old, Rev and the band have followed their lifetime immersion in and devotion to this music with pilgrimages to its birthplace of Clarksdale, MI, and the Chess Studios in Chicago. A student of Charlie Patton, Robert Johnson, Furry Lewis, Bukka White and Mississippi John Hurt, Rev's style has been honed through studying with the late David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Robert Belfour and T-Model Ford.

Rev is even a bit of a YouTube star, featured in a pair of viral videos, one that features him playing (and shooting) a guitar made from a 12-gauge shotgun, the other in which he chops wood with one fashioned out of an axe.

With their European tour wrapping up, the band have recently announced a new run of headline dates for the fall including stops in Chicago, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Houston, New York City and more. See full list of dates below.
