LOS ANGELES, CA. (Wolfson Public Relations) - He is one of the most recognizable musicians in the world, accumulating more than 35 platinum and gold albums, with sales totaling over 20 million, performing live before more than two million people in over 20 countries around the world, including India's Taj Mahal, China's Forbidden City and the Acropolis in Greece.
YANNI LIVE! The Concert Event will be released as an audio CD on August 15, 2006. The companion DVD will be released on September 19, 2006, both through an exclusive distribution deal with Image Entertainment, Inc. This will be Yanni's first new album since 2003's Ethnicity, and first live concert recording in eight years, since the spectacular Tribute, recorded and filmed at the Taj Mahal and Forbidden City. Among other media stops, Yanni will make his first appearance on the controversial radio program The Howard Stern Show in New York on August 15, the date of the CD release.
The concert was recorded and filmed live at the Mandalay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, as part of Yanni's 2005 World Tour, following in the tradition of previous best-selling YANNI LIVE! CD/DVDs, such as 1994's Live at the Acropolis, when he returned to his Greek homeland and performed a ground-breaking concert video, as well as 1997's Tribute. Tribute went on to sell more than a million copies within six weeks of its release, while Live at the Acropolis became a landmark project and sold more than five million copies in North America and millions more worldwide. The Live at the Acropolis DVD/video is the second best-selling music video of all time.
Additionally, with the new Yanni Live! The Concert Event DVD there will be some behind-the-scenes bonus footage. "All Access Backstage Pass" captured the preparation for Yanni's latest concert film event, as well as a revealing look at Yanni himself.
