New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Brighton vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Yumi And The Weather (aka Ruby Taylor), is delighted to announce that she will release a brand new EP titled Some Days on 3rd December 2020 via Small Pond Records.

With subtle nods to ethereal 80s synth-rock, 60s soul, and New Romantic pop, Some Days finds Yumi And The Weather shaking hands with the most self-assured and daring version of herself.

To celebrate the news, Taylor and her band have revealed a video for lead single 'What Will Become Of The Wishing Well' which is out now on all good digital service providers.

Commenting on the track, Taylor says: "The story behind 'What Will Become Of The Wishing Well' is about the current situation with COVID and how there are so many lies around it all. It's also about the theory that we are heading into a cashless society, so I thought people won't be throwing coins to make wishes anymore. Wishes are such a nice thing as it's all about hopeful thinking for a moment—about desires and things we want, almost like little prayers. Ultimately it's about the recent struggle of not knowing what the future holds, but keeping grounded in a time when truth and information are up in the air."

The video was shot by Taylor's neighbour and analogue film photographer Emilia Cox, with Taylor explaining: "Emilia lives in the same building as me and had never shot a video before, so it was quite fun just trying things out. We found some nice places to dance about with a stereo I've had for years and think is really cute. Even though it doesn't work anymore it still makes me happy. I edited the video on iMovie, and took influence from cheesy old music videos with the slow zoom in and out shots, which I think is such a simple but effective effect."

Taylor will also be exhibiting work alongside others in forthcoming musicians' art show SUPER COOL DRAWING MACHINE, curated by Yuppies Music and touring this winter in a creative and forward-thinking use of UK music venue spaces in lieu of live performances (see below for listings).

Since first emerging in 2013 with her much-lauded All We Can EP, Taylor and the band have spent the past few years perfecting their unique blend of electrifying technicolour psych-pop, finally emerging with their long-awaited full length offering (released via their own MIOHMI RECORDS imprint) in 2018.

Armed with this arsenal of unrelentingly catchy and stirring pieces of music, Yumi enjoyed a stint supporting British Sea Power, slots at Secret Garden Party and Bad Pond Festival, and heavy radio support from BBC 6 Music's Lauren Laverne, Guy Garvey, Don Letts, Shaun Keaveny, Nemone, and Radio X's John Kennedy (including live sessions for BBC Introducing and Radio X).

Previous supporters at press include CLASH, The 405, DUMMY, Noisey, Music Is My Sanctuary, Mixmag, The Arts Desk, Stamp The Wax.

Taylor was scheduled to tour the UK with labelmate Bonniesongs earlier this year, before coronavirus forced the cancellation of the dates. Further details of the new EP will be announced over the coming weeks.
