Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" Claims Multiple #1 Spots
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Universal Republic Records) GOTYE's multi-platinum mega hit, "Somebody That I Used To Know" has reached the # 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, the Billboard Digital Songs Chart, and the #1 Billboard On-Demand Streaming Chart this week. GOTYE is the first Australian artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 Chart this century. He is only the fifth Australian based artist to do so in the entire history of the Billboard charts and joins the likes of Men At Work, and INXS.

"Somebody That I Used To Know" is a true multi-format hit perched at #1 on the Alternative chart for 9 weeks and is currently #1 at the AAA radio format where it has held that spot for 10 weeks. It is currently Top 10 at the Hot AC format and Top 15 at the Top 40 format climbing both charts approaching 100 million in audience.

Millions of listeners get "to know" the Belgian-Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumental phenom from this undeniable gem weekly. Now, he's conquered not one but three charts with the song from Making Mirrors, his Fairfax/Universal Republic Records debut. This week alone "Somebody That I Used To Know" has surpassed single sales of 541,000 and the album has moved more than 52,000 units landing at # 7 on overall Billboard Album Chart. GOTYE is in very good company as one of only six artists to accomplish the feat of "Gold Selling." Even more remarkable, he also managed to harness this momentum nine months since the song's July 2011 release. Equal to commercial success, GOTYE is being lauded with critical acclaim with The New York Times describing Making Mirrors as "Ingenious, oddly touching, refreshingly emphatic bedroom pop."

To date, the song has sold over 4.5 million downloads worldwide and the video is approaching 200,000 million YouTube views, The song has not only been the subject of VH-1's venerable "You Ought To Know" program but has also been utilized during key scenes on 90210, Gossip Girl, and this past week on Glee. In addition, Phillip Phillips and Elise Testone covered it on American Idol on April 11. GOTYE topped of the week performing "Somebody That I Used To Know" and "Eyes Wide Open" on Saturday Night Live April 14th, and Andy Samberg and Taran Killam even provided a hilarious alternate take on the song in a raucous digital short.

Coming off a much lauded performance at the first day of Coachella, GOTYE continues to win over fans with his inimitable voice and presence. No sound or instrument is off limits for this unique alternative troubadour—including xylophone. "Somebody That I Used To Know" has become a veritable smash and a bona fide anthem for 2012.

Now that the world knows GOTYE, it'll never forget him.
