IRVINE, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Limelight Public Relations) Today, Maloof Skateboarding announced that Grammy-Award Winning Artist Lil Jon will headline the Maloof Money Cup South Africa benefit concert Saturday, Oct. 1. As part of the Maloof Money Cup World Skateboarding Championships coming to Kimberley, South Africa, Sept. 30 - Oct. 2, the benefit concert will also feature top South African performers, and will benefit local charities, including the South African anti-violence charity SHOUT.
"When we made the decision to expand the Maloof Money Cup globally, we wanted to ensure that we gave back to all the communities we touch," said Joe Maloof, creator of Maloof Money Cup and owner of the NBA's Sacramento Kings and the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. "The Maloof Skateboarding Global Initiative was set up to do just that, and its first effort was the 'Skateboarding for Hope' tour, which has traveled across South Africa for the last 10 months promoting skateboarding as a positive, active lifestyle for youth in an effort to keep kids off the streets and away from crime and violence."
The culmination of the tour, which is supported by the Northern Cape Provincial Government, is the Maloof Money Cup benefit concert on Saturday, October 1, which will take place on the world class, pro skater-designed skate park that will host the Maloof Money Cup World Skateboarding Championships. The concert will raise money for local charities, including SHOUT, a grassroots organization in South Africa dedicated to preventing violence and spreading a message of hope.
"I'm excited to go for the first time and perform in Africa for the Maloof Money Cup," said Lil Jon. "The Maloofs pull together the best athletes and artists for this contest, and I'm always happy to be a part of it."
"In addition to being a highly acclaimed artist, Lil Jon is also one of the most generous individuals in the music industry. When we reached out to him about this benefit concert, he quickly jumped on board and we're grateful for his enthusiasm for this incredible cause. Lil Jon, as well as an incredible group of South African musicians, will put on an absolutely tremendous concert," said Maloof.
