Jules Buckley Shares His New Take On Zapp's 'More Bounce To The Ounce' Featuring Mr Talkbox
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Jules Buckley's recent singles 'Space Funk', 'X Breaks' and 'Apache' have seen the cross-genre innovator bring some of hip-hop's legendary loops to life with the help of live instrumentation from Chris Wheeler and the Heritage Orchestra and Ghost-Note (the Snarky Puppy percussive duo). Today he drops his take on Zapp's 'More Bounce To The Ounce', as a final teaser ahead of next week's release of the highly anticipated album 'The Breaks'. The track features a special guest vocalist in the shape of the larger-than-life, multiple Grammy-winning vocal effect talent Mr. Talkbox.

With its talkbox vocals paving the way for Daft Punk's future approach and elastic bass that pops just as much as it bounces and grooves, 'More Bounce To The Ounce' felt like music from another galaxy when Zapp first released it in 1980.

What makes Buckley's version stand out is its live feel, as Ghost-Note recreate the famous, thunderous snare that was later used in everything from EPMD's 'You Gots To Chill' to 'Going Back To Cali' by The Notorious B.I.G. The Heritage Orchestra help flesh out the full funk flavour, while Mr. Talkbox brings the modern style that he contributed to Bruno Mars' '24K Magic' - later sampled on Kendrick Lamar's 'LOYALTY'.

Jules says, "Zapp's timeless classic is an absolute popping anthem, reworked here with the genius of Mr Talkbox. Another gem plundered from the breaks chest that needs to be heard! "

'The Breaks' is a love letter from Buckley and his associates to the booming beats that are a vital part of the hip-hop sound. Created after Buckley's successful 2019 BBC Prom of the same name, the album is engrossing on two levels: hip-hop heads will appreciate the reinvention of the genre's all-time greatest loops, while adventurous music fans will discover the original roots of so many iconic moments.
'The Breaks' album is designed to be listened to non-stop as a continuous mix. It will be released by Decca Records on CD, vinyl and cassette and is available to pre-order now.
