Canton, Ohio (Top40 Charts) - Macy Gray is speaking out about her botched performance of the national anthem at the Pro Football Hall of Fame exhibition game on Monday (Aug. 6) in her hometown of Canton, Ohio.

Gray, who was booed and laughed at while she struggled to sing "The Star Spangled Banner," explained to the Canton newspaper, The Repository: "I've never stood in the middle of a football field with 25,000 people watching, with planes flying over me. I blanked and I couldn't believe I forgot the words ... I have total respect for that song."
Gray's next album, The Id, is due Sept. 18 on Epic.
