New York Girlie Action Upcoming Shows
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Girlie Action PR) Tuesday, May 17 - Bowery Ballroom
URGE OVERKILL
After over 15 years since their last full-length, Urge Overkill released their long-awaited new album Rock&Roll Submarine May 10th. After releasing their first single," Effigy," to the roaring approval of both fans and critics, the band is now sharing the album's opening track, "Mason/Dixon," which you can listen to HERE. The song drips with gloriously sludgy power chords and the familiar, haunting vocal harmonies of duel frontmen Nash Kato and Eddie Roeser. With the chemistry between the two as magnetic as ever, the guys come blazing out the gate with their signature fusion of arena rock and punk.

Wednesday, May 18 - Joe's Pub
Sleepy Rebels
The New York based trio, Sleepy Rebels, are a collaboration comprised of Jeremy Adelman and siblings Bruce and Erica Driscoll. The group has designs to re-establish the coolness of positive sentiments and ideals. Yellow Tree, which was released May 10 on Powerful Company, is the manifesto that soundtracks their rebellion! The pastoral images, sun drenched arrangements and sparkling melodies hit you like the first wave of the summer. The voices on the album are having a romance with the world itself. Listen for yourself with the song "You Can Make the Sun Rise" which reminds listeners that everything is possible and that we all have the potential for greatness.

Tuesday May 24th - Rockwood Music Hall No 2 - 8pm (RECORD RELEASE show)
JOHANNA & THE DUSTY FLOOR
Listen to Filter Magazine's exclusive premiere of Johanna & The Dusty Floor's signature track "Witch Shoes" HERE. This track, besides a heart wrenching cover of Kate Bush's "Cloudbusting" and a haunting"Forest Of Sorrows" are on her stellar upcoming debut album Northern Lights, which will be released on 5/24 on Red Valise Records. Her album will blow in hard come summer's start, a stellar breeze of dreamy piano and monumental strings leaving your floor, be it bedroom or dimly-let subterranean club or otherwise, anything but dusty. Besides recording her debut, Johanna just completed a string of"31 songs in 31 days" writing experiment that she shared with fans on her Soundcloud. An impressive feat!

Thursday May 26th - Glasslands (RECORD RELEASE show) (w Savoir Adore and Golden Pony)
FRENCH HORN REBELLION
True to their DIY-style, French Horn Rebellion will self-release their debut album The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion on 5/24. After touring Europe with Hercules & Love Affair, Hot Chip, Cut Copy, an Asian tour and gig with MGMT, the band are doing a 28 date American tour with Yelle. CNN caught their SXSW live set and asked them for some good advice - this is what Robert Perlick-Molinari had to say to CNN.

THE SHIVERS

The Shivers will return with their latest record More, set for release on Silence Breaks. Recorded in Manchester, UK early last year, the album finds Queens, NY songwriters Keith Zarriello and Jo Schornikow exploring everything from shambly garage rock to melancholic barroom ballads. In honor of the band's new album, the band has made "Used to Be" available for free download. Check out the track HERE.
Pitchfork says: "Keith Zarriello's voice carries an eerie, mesmerizing eroticism." and Gorilla Vs Bear has been a fan "...one of our favorite songs of all time."
