New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Anaka Records) Funds raised were contributed to Family-to-Family, a New York-based, non-profit organization, whose Hurricane Relief efforts create impactful one-to-one connections, matching donors across the U.S. with hurricane affected families in need of basic household items lost in the storm.
Alex Young chose to partner with Family-to-Family because she wanted to ensure that the all the funds raised by her "Christmas Kiss" campaign would have immediate and direct impact for
Sandy storm families who needed it most.
The artist shared, "I really wanted to find a way to help provide relief to
Sandy victims and Family-to-Family's programs stood out among the many non-profit organizations. I felt strongly that their hands on approach, taking the time to connect directly with those in need would ensure that my "Christmas Kiss" relief funds would have immediate and direct impact for those who needed help most."
Family-to-Family will be using the funds to provide 100 beds for children and their parents in Coney Island, NY who are currently displaced, sleeping on makeshift bedding and living with neighbors/friends/family.
"We at PS 90 are so grateful for this grant which will provide much needed temporary sleeping accommodations for children and their families. No matter where they are living, be it in their own homes, or in warm environment with their family and friends (while they are displaced) they will know that others care about their well-being." Dorris Torres, Parent Coordinator, PS 90
"Our 'on the ground' and 'in the community' approach allows us to react quickly to address one specific need after another," explained Pam Koner, Family-to-Family Founder and Executive Director. "We are, in a sense, an organization that is plugging up the many holes that are springing up as a result of the hurricane's devastation. Alex's donation to our efforts will impact families struggling to put some form of "normal" back into their lives...and that's a big thing!"
Alex Young's 2013 season includes continued sponsorship of Family-to-Family's programs with her upcoming College and International Tours. Musical
Director on Lady Gaga's world tour, Kern Brantley had this to say about the pop sensation. "As a musical director, I have been fortunate to work with some of the top female artists in the world such as Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah, Monica, and
Faith Evans just to name a few. Upon meeting and working with Alex Young, all I can say is here we go again! Alex is the next generation of modern music."
