"New Chevy" is a representation of us staking our claim, proving ourselves, and pushing ourselves. It's different from anything else we have ever released, which is why we are excited for it. People are gonna be a little caught off guard by this type of sound coming from us, which is what we want. At the same time, lyrically, we are staying true to ourselves. It was also really fun to make together and that feeling translates when listening to the song."
After being discovered by the influential YouTube channel, Yes Theory, 49th Parallel released their debut album in late 2019. Since that time, the band's hometown of Seattle has embraced them as a torchbearer of the underrated local hip hop scene. The Yes Theory video regarding their debut has amassed over 3 million views and the band has been featured on the "Shisha Lounge", "Fresh Finds" and "Fire Emoji" official Spotify playlists. Earlier this year, the band was hand-picked as finalists for the Museum of Pop Culture's #SoundOff2020 competition showcasing the best up-and-coming talent in the Pacific Northwest. "49th Parallel" is a huge step forward in the band's creative journey, and is the perfect introduction to this next phase of music to be released throughout the rest of the year.
