Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ AEOM PR) Singer/Songwriter/Producer,
Simon Stewart pka Si'm
Styles is no stranger to musical success. He is the son of
Sly & The Family Stone founding member Freddie Stewart and nephew of Sly Stone. Styles, a self-taught prodigy, was exposed to various genres of music at an early age, and developed his hereditary musical genes.
Styles began singing, writing and producing hit music as a member of the male R&B/Pop group "Entity," whose title track from their debut album "Locked Doors" was featured in an episode of the CBS sitcom, "Love Monkey," a story about the music-industry that starred Tom Cavanagh, Jason Priestly and Larenz Tate, which was later picked up by VH1.
To date, Styles' accolades include the production of tracks featuring artists such as: Nelly, Too Short, Freeway, Mistah F.A.B., Bushwick Bill, E-40's
Captain Save'm, and most recently, Pop artist
Linda Kiraly (Universal/ Republic). In 2012,
Styles released his Solo Mixtape "I AM POP" which includes "Just Like a Millionaire," "Roxanne," and "Bell Biv Devoe," to name a few. "I AM POP" is available for free download at https://www.simstyles.com.
In March of 2013, Si'm
Styles will be heading to Capetown, South Africa to write and produce for male, R&B/Pop Group, "District."
Styles was selected from a handful of producers and songwriters and was commissioned by D Street Media Founder & CEO,
Dexter Davis to spearhead the group's sound.
Styles admits his excitement by stating, "It's an honor to have been chosen and trusted to simply do what I do, which is to envision and create great music, also being able to do it in such a great environment.
The multi-talented singer/songwriter/producer has partnered with publishing heavyweight, Maani Edwards to handle his publishing, television, label and film placements. Edwards' history in the music industry is vast and includes being Senior
Director & VP of Universal
Music Publishing for over 11 years. During Edwards' 20 year music publishing career, he has signed many influential music superstars such as 50 Cent, Babyface, Fantasia, Jill Scott, Jim Jones, Kem, Juelz Santana, Mannie Fresh, Swizz Beatz, Keyshia Cole, and a host of many others.
After 13 years with ASCAP,
Styles will be switching to the smaller but more artist-interactive performing rights organization, SESAC. Styles' decision was simple after a few candid conversations with SESAC VP,
James Leach, establishing that the two had similar ideas and visions about expanding his brand. Styles' future projects with SESAC will be announced later this year.
In
Spring of 2013,
Styles will release the follow up to his "I AM POP" Mixtape, "I AM POP 2." In conjunction with the mixtape,
Styles will release his next radio single entitled "My Cali," a clever and metaphoric west coast anthem about his life-long love, mixing pop vocals on top of a classic west coast track which was written, produced and performed by Styles. The single will be released independently with video to accompany.
