LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) - "Been a long time coming and I know a change gone come," Sam Cooke (released in 1965) made these lyrics famous and singer-songwriter Andre Allen is living it. He has been through a turbulent music career and an even more devastating childhood. With impermeable persistence and passion, Andre Allen has created a soulful and inspirational debut album, L.Y.F.E.

The Dre Allen Project puts soul into rock with powerful lyrics, strong vocals, and unique musical arrangements. The album will be released September 14th on their own independent label, Movemakers Entertainment and distributed nationally by Tommy Boy/ADA, a division of Warner Brothers Music.
The album is also available now on Towerrecords.com.

Do not get it misconstrued. This is not an R&B album - it is a Rock album, exemplified especially in the first single "It be like that". An upbeat, feel good, summer time song that reminds you to look on the bright side of life. "We can complain about where we're at or we can change the mundane, after all, it's just life," explains Dre. This single is the perfect illustration of the musical talent of Andre Allen.

"The Dre Allen Project" has moments of angst similar to Evanescence and Linkin Park but conveyed through the soul of Dre's voice. He mixes different musical elements like telephonic sound, heavy drums, and monster guitar. The album features his wife, Dawn Robinson of En Vogue, and Lucy Pearl as well as collaborations with Shelia E on the song "Mama Didn't Say" and Kayla on "It Couldn't Be That Bad." The album is the creative development of a musician whose time is long overdue.

Who is Andre Allen (Dre)? He is a man with a mission! After an abusive childhood, sporadic incarceration, having a short lived top 40 hit with R&B group IV Xample, and 10 record deals, Dre is finally ready to spread his rock wings!!!
"He should be opening for Lenny Kravitz, Dave Matthews, and John Mayer, because his music is likened to them," explains Dawn.

In December 2003, Music Connection Magazine named The Dre Allen Project as one of their "Top Unsigned Artists." Being unsigned is of no worries for Dre. Movemakers Entertainment is the brainchild of Dre Allen, CEO, Dawn Robinson, co-CEO, and Maurice De Pina, President. They plan to take their indie label to the stratosphere.

Allen says, "I think what we are doing is a testimony to the strength of the human spirit. After countless attempts to make meaningful music in a corporate music dominated industry, we get to be truly artistic in our approach to delivering heartfelt and positive hits to the world!"
